I have stayed in many hotels around the world and this one rates as one of the worst. I booked the hotel for its 'unusual decor and character' but wow it's awful. The bathroom was so small and dirty. There was no shower and the room was freezing. Some soaps or shampoo would have been helpful as well, but we didn't have a bath as we wanted to wait until we got home, it was that horrid. The toilet had a knack to flushing it as well.
The room was ok but the bed linen was dirty with stains on the blanket. There wasn't a duvet and it was freezing cold in there. We wouldn't have stayed, but we went to see a band and at midnight we were too tired to go elsewhere.
The hotel staff/owners were something else, abrupt and unwelcoming. When we arrived we filled out the card and then get asked what time we wanted breakfast. I said after 8 and we got the response of 'Ill leave it outside your room then'. Not even a brief, what would you like? The breakfast was left in a manky plastic container with 2 croissants (no jam or butter) and 2 muffins that had seen better days. Needless to say we left this.
I would strongly suggest that anyone who is looking to stay here doesn't book as there are plenty of other hotels for the same price that are a million times better.

I spend around 60 nights a year in hotels all over the world and can honestly say that this is the worst place I have ever stayed in. The room was freezing cold, dirty, no soap, the windows rattled, the bed was uncomfortable, stained and filthy....get the picture?

I would add to the comments of another guest---are they even registered? There are no smoke detectors in the rooms and the windows open wide so they would fail an H and S inspection. there is no fire escape either. We booked a double room and were given a twin or an alternative minute double room in the basement. The staff sat around in their coats and were far from friendly.

We stayed here as a last resort and it was certainly that---I would really avoid it at all costs

The photographs flatter the place. It is basically like a junk shop with lots of shiny things glued onto other things and hangings to make it look a bit like a bedouin tent, and the bathrooms appear to be ex-caravan single plastic mouldings. I didn't disturb any of the furnishings for fear of what might emerge from behind them. The mattress felt like it had been salvaged from someone's great great granny. Having said that, considering it was walking distance from Marble Arch deep in Londonistan, it was pretty cheap.

A quirky hotel just 5 mins walk from Edgware Rd Station.eclectic rooms, clean and comfy with en suite. continental breakfast delivered to your room each day and is quite generous. Tea making facilities could improve. We were on the 3 rd floor an no lifts, so pack light!
Short walk to HydePark, Marble Arch and the Mall. 3 mins to shops( including Tescos) handy to buy picnic foods.nero cafe very close and do great coffee. Stalk friendly. Wifi available but one had to find the right spot to sit in.would re visit for a casual laid back holiday. No gym or pool. No specific kids activities.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quiet but there is no lift. Street facing rooms were light and airy, ours had a do...

Strange place, but I was prepared for that because of the other reviews. What I was not prepared for was the bed - the worst ever! It felt like you were sleeping - or rather trying to sleep - on rocks and stones. And the police cars going past the window every fifteen minutes didn't help either. What makes the grade go up from "terrible" to "poor" was the decoration of the room - quite outstanding, never seen anything like it. My little boy liked it too. And the location is good - close to Hyde Park, etc. But to try and get some sleep - impossible. If you have children, I would not recommend this place.

This hotel is eclectic, fun, unique and romantic. It is a little dated in parts. But it is so much fun. The walls are painted and decorated in various interesting styles and there are antiques everywhere. I picked up one book in the office and it was a record of the Popes meetings from the time of the first Pope. It is close to Edgeware Road tube (Metro, underground). Cose to Hyde Park. I loved it.
