“Handford Wines”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

Had read up about La Vigneronne as a specialist in Alsace and Southern French wines but they have been replaced by an excellent independent - Handford Wines... Apparently as long ago as 2003.
Still good on Alsace and South of France but specialities seem to be Bordeaux which was pretty spectacular and Italy.
Very friendly staff and the only time I have had my wines recommended to me by a Master of Wine - pretty impressive!

“Now called Handford Wines”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

Went along to La Vigneronne to check out their selection but it closed years ago. However, it has been replaced by a little independent called Handford Wines. Great selection from around the world. Strong on the classics - France and Italy, especially top end Bordeaux & Burgundy.
They've won a lot of awards ( doesn't take long to tell you're somewhere good coz they've got them up on the walls ) including their Portugal and South African selections. American section's got a lot of good names. Surprised by the variety of their Oregon wines - some great names.
Great level of knowledge - they've got 2 Masters of Wine which is remarkable for a relatively small shop. I think there's less than 300 in the world !
