Owner description: Harrods remains at the height of British luxury retail, attracting millions of loyal customers from across the globe with its unrivalled product selection, world-class service, innovative retail theatre and historic setting. The store was opened in 1849 by Charles Henry Harrod as an expansion of his humble East End grocery and tea business. Today, it is one of the most distinguished names in the world. Seven floors and 330 departments showcase the best of luxury merchandise, from high-end fashion and accessories to the finest homewares and the latest technology. There are 28 restaurants in-store; we continue to enhance our portfolio with Galvin Demoiselle, Bentley's Sea Grill, and the institution that is The Georgian. Customers enjoy a wealth of exclusive services, such as By Appointment Personal Shopping and The Penthouse, a private suite dedicated to unsurpassed bespoke service in a beautiful environment. Other departments include the Urban Retreat at Harrods spa, a theatre ticket bureau, and The Studio, the store's interior-design service. Qatar Holding acquired the business in 2010, and it continues to guide - and invest strongly in - the store according to its philosophy: Anything is possible. Harrods continuously seeks to surpass the desires and expectations of its customers, staying true to its original motto: Omnia omnibus ubique (everything for everyone, everywhere). Harrods is located on Brompton Road, near the Knightsbridge London Underground station.

What can I say, no one on reception when we arrived, waited 5 minutes. We seated on the terrace!! it was like an alleyway windows that you could not see out of. We asked to be moved, which we were. We were next to where the afternoon tea is served from. The time we waited was totally unacceptable. The waiter to served the tea, did not speak, the tea went mostly in the saucer and to top it the tea was stewed. We asked for a new pot. When that came we then had to ask for fresh cups, by the time the cups came, we were back to square one with the tea!! Sandwiches were very chilled and just ok. The cakes were very dry, scones were the best thing on the stand.

We asked for a coke, this took 10 minutes to come, once we got the bill a service charge had been added, we asked for this to be removed as the service had been far from good. We were told by the waiter that he had to get the Manager's permissionto remove it!! On reflection we really should not have paid anything. One of the waiters sneezed and just wiped his hand on his trousers!!

Harrods used to be one our most favourite places to visit, but we are done with it now. There is not much difference in the price between Harrods and The Ritz and The Ritz is definately the best.

5 floors of lavinesh, very nice restaurants and cafes. We were there on a Saturday morning and the place was overcrowded.
Small tip - leave your bags and jackets at the luggage service so that you can be comfortable!

I loved harrods and spent a fortune! The Disney displays in the window for Christmas are fantastic and the Christmas shop was brilliant. We also went into the milk bar and had a fantastic ice cream and a gorgeous coffee. Harrods is a must see when going to London in my opinion.

We have just visited Father Christmas at Harrods which was brilliant however we decided to finish it off with a trip to the Disney cafe next door what an error, the food was Luke warm if not cold, the portions were tiny, jacket potatoes hard with no butter filling chucked on top, ravioli some pieces with no filling and kids pizza was just that a cheap tiny hard pizza. The floor was filthy and had not been swept from the previous diners although the tables were clean along with the high hairs, the staff however were lovely if they could be heard over the noise of exceptionally unruly children who's parents could not discipline them. If you are going to visit Father Christmas which is a lovely experience go outside the store to one of the many Italian restaurants where the food is cooked fresh for you.

Harrods and London is the place to be for Christmas shopping. The store always pulls out the stops for Christmas lighting and giving that festive feel. Everything you need at top prices but that's what Harrods is all about. Stop off at the VCP champagne bar for a light refreshment. Perfect
