This is a lovely museum, full of moody black and white photographs, well executed and unusual paintings and a range of subjects from stuffy medieval royalty to well-known modern figures. I could lose myself for hours in here. There is a lovely cafe in the basement where you can look up and see the sky.

We visited specifically to see the Marilyn Monroe exhibition. What a treat that was. It was just the right size in that you could walk round it in less than an hour, if you read all the transcripts by the pictures. The galleries themselves are very interesting, and its impossible to get round in one day. One to visit again and again.

Popped in to see Kate's portrait but stayed to check out upstairs and the portraits of our early monarchs as reading historical novels at time and wanted to put faces to the names. More interesting than I thought - will be back.
