“Quick visit”
Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Popped in to spend half an hour or so. Got to see the new portrait of Kate and the lovely informal portrait of William and Harry, both very good.
We are so lucky in the UK to have these galleries open for free and so available to pay many visits.

“Wasn't blown away by the collection.”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the collection feels a bit disjointed to me. The majority of the portraits I did not find amazing, and the pieces I liked the most were around the photographs.

When I went they were showing a collection on Marilyn Monroe, which on the whole I wasn't impressed with. I didn't actually learn anything from the collection, and it was pretty much old magazine covers featuring her.

I definitely think there are better museums in London.

“Man Ray Exhibit”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

This is a must see from the great 20th century art & photography icon Man Ray. Man Ray Portraits, which runs through May 27th, is the first major museum retrospective of this innovative and influential artist’s photographic portraits, from 1916-1976.

“At last”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

On a rainy Saturday afternoon it was packed. Lots of kids with single parents and young couples talking earnestly trying to impress one another.
It was much smaller than I expected and with fewer paintings. Lots of people round the Duchess of Cambridge and Richard the Third.
The best bit is the 2nd level and particularly the Tudor and Stuart rooms. Wonderful to see paintings that you have seen only in books. We only had 2 hours, so didn't get to see the exhibitions but the Man Ray seemed popular and people were queuing to buy tickets. Will have to return another time but will go on a weekday morning as I can't stand crowded art galleries.

“Art and history lesson in one!”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

I love it here. It's a history lesson from the Tudors to modern day and I love it. It's free to see the main exhibits too so if you're like me and only have a limited attention span then you can pop in any time for another look :o)
