This gallery has an amazing collection of art with masterpieces by some of the best known artists including Vermeer, Leonardo, Raphael, Carravagio, Bruegel, Rubens, etc. Their Impressionionist collection is amazing. You can easily spend a day here and not see everything. Come early or late in the day to avoid the crowds. We lived in the NYC area for 21 years and thought no museum could be as good as the Met, but this one is. Right up there with the Louvre and the Prado too. Don't miss this one if in London.

The fact that this place is free is just beyond amazing. Fabulously curated collection of great works. I could spend days here. I highly recommend the audio tour, which is a real bargain at GBP4 as of May 2015. They select about 80 representative works in the collection as a recommended route, but the audio guide applies to far more works than that. Take the time to listen to the commentary and really enjoy the art. When we went, the curated selection was in a kind of beta test, and the staff were very happy to hear our feedback of the tour.

I've been to Uffizi, the Louvre, Smithsonian, Philadelphia, etc. Without a doubt, this is one of the greatest art museum visits I've had, largely thanks to the audio guide. Best 4 pounds I've ever spent. Parts of the museum were a bit of a zoo (esp. Van Gogh's Sunflowers) when we visited on a Saturday, but it was easy enough to navigate around the crowds and pick another great work to enjoy in relative peace.

Simply the best museum in town, free and full of inestimable pieces from all over the world. I went there three times already, as it s really vast, and each time I lost myself for ours among impressionists , Van Gogh and many others
