I always stop by when I am in London.
It can be overwhelming as they have so many of the masterpieces but definitely a must see.

For an art lover this place is totally unmatched. The collection is varied and large and can keep you inside the musuem for a long time (depedning on your taste). And with nothing to pay to enter, this becomes quite crowded as well. Plan your trip early in the morning if you want to enjoy the paintings without too many people around

Worth a visit and very interesting, but a little tedious after more than an hour there, unless you are a real art lover

I really love this museum, having been here more than once, but don't leave your party. It is so hard to find someone once you have been separated. It twists and turns, but other than that, it is a wonderful museum with beautiful paintings and other artifacts.

The Gallery is immense and requires more time than most can give it to get the most out of it. Our visit of 5 hours was a rewarding one, but we really needed the lunch break at the Café to give our legs a rest. We also started at the Saints Alive exhibit (see review C12HUD), although we were not as enthusiastic about it as the other Reviewer. We then moved on to 17C paintings, Caravaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt, Cuyp, Vermeer, Van Dyck and Velasquez before going back to the 16C, Cranach, Raphael, Michelangelo, Holbein, Bruegel etc..

After lunch it was the turn of painters from the 13C-15C, including Leonardo da Vinci and those of the 18C -20C. Even though we had visited other great galleries and museums, this was a great experience. If you have the opportunity I recommend that you spread the visit over two days.
