“Vibrant neighborhood”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

We chose to stay on the South Bank, and at first it may seem "away" from a lot of tourist haunts, but we found that to be just fine with us. Really experience the South Bank by walking from the Westminster Bridge to the Tower Bridge. Along the way you'll pass The Eye, the Royal Theatre, Shakespeare's Globe, several restaurants, a skateboard "park", & taverns. The people watching is great too-- business people, artists, actors, tourists & buskers--and all this while nestled up to the beautiful Thames. It can be quite romantic on a clear evening.

“My fave place in London”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Great view of the river, happening vibe, full of tourists and locals and yet still feels rejuvenating and relaxing at same time, lovely refreshing Thames Path walks, great restaurants and bars, home of the National Theatre and the Globe, great for sitting out on a summers day and enjoying the riverside breeze. You can even go down the riverside steps to explore the tidal beach (high tide only!) This is one of my favourite places in London as there is so much happening here and it still has a wonderful outdoors feel.

Having been a Londoner for many years, sometimes I feel the best way to breathe and get a sense of wide open space within the city itself is to be right next to the River (preferably on the South Bank or on the middle of one of the bridges) or to visit one of the Royal Parks.

It is also close to St Paul's Cathedral, and you can take a lovely walk to Westminster from here. Well worth a visit if you have a couple of hours to spare and want to explore.

“A nice walk with many attractions”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

This is one of those places you have to be there. A walk from Westminster and the house of parliament, along the Thames with sea life, the London dungeon and the edf london eye. Very nice to see and spend time in one of the attractions.

“Lovely day!”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

We walked from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge, took most of the afternoon. Jumped on the London Eye & then carried on walking! Stopped at a few hostelries on the way & had lunch at Gabriels Wharf. Didn't know how far we walked we just kept soldiering on, but it was a beautiful day & saw lots of sights.

“Spoilt for choice”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

The South Bank has become one of London’s main activity centres over the years, not only because of the things to do there, but also because when the weather is good, it’s great to be able to walk along the banks of the Thames, and also get good views across the river, of Westminster, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the rest.

As for being in the South Bank area itself, what more could one want? The Tate, London Eye, Royal Festival Hall, Sea Life, restaurants, there’s even the occasional farmer’s market.
