“Expensive, but Number Sixteen is worth the money to see London”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We selected Number Sixteen after a careful review of alternatives to spend some tourist time in London. Number Sixteen isan excellent hotel and we came away quite satisfied. The cost was reasonable by London standards during prime tourist season (nothing is cheap in London - be prepared).

The room we had was small (common in Europe), but workable. The fixtures were first class and the hotel kept the room spotless.

The best feature of Number Sixteen is location - which is very important. The Tube was nearby as were assorted bus and taxi services - both business and tourist. Best of all our room was quiet, despite having an elevated view of the street. A Tube Oyster Pass gets you where you want to go as fast as you can get there in a major city. Taxis are very expensive.

The Number Sixteen restaurant for breakfast was expensive, but delicious. Despite the cost we ate there repeatedly. Try the homemade yogurt - just perfect! We also tried local pubs and restaurants around the hotel location which were also very good. The neighborhood is young professional and therefore very efficient.

The staff is international but friendly, cooperative and best of all, competent.

We will be back to visit Number Sixteen.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room.

Delightful boutique hotel in the ritzy South Kensington area of London. Two blocks from the tube station. Great service from attentive staff. Free WIFI. Positively charming parlors & garden so you're not stuck in a hotel room.

This is the second time we have stayed at Number Sixteen. Our first time we had a lovely room with garden access, double vanity and a large room. This time I opted for smaller accomodations, which disappointed. We were looking for a quiet room with garden view. We were given room #18 right off reception, with a garden view. Small bathroom with downstairs access, which were hard to navigate in the middle of the night. We did enjoy peace and quiet during the night, however, I always had the feeling I was too exposed and did hear reception noise starting at 8:30am.

Bed was comfortable. Room layout was clever. Wifi access was strong. Staff was friendly and accomodating. As a vegan diner, was happy when they offered almond milk!

The garden is perfect to enjoy breakfast or any time of day, along with the living rooms. Being this was the end of a two week 4 country trip, we took advantage of the honor bar, made ourselves drinks and relaxed outside on the front porch as if we were at home.

South Kensington underground station is convenient and close by.

Great breakfast served on the back garden of the hotel. Great staff that takes care of anything you might need. The decoration is adorable - and it is not like a normal hotel. You feel like you are at home. Great Location, 1 block from South Kensington tube station.

Room Tip: All of them are great. I have stayed there twice in different rooms. No noises, and views are all gr...

What immediately stands out is the very friendly manner of welcoming and treating guests. The rooms are all different as the hotel is a typical London building. Romm 301 is on the top floor, spacious, modern. Only issue is the very slippery bathroom floor (even when dry). Could be dangerous if you don't pay attention. The rest is just great: comfortable beds, good shower, nice breakfast.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights. This hotel is so lovely and inviting it is hard to leave and go see the sights. Upscale linens, fixtures, staff and location. We will stay here again and again. Just 2 blocks from the underground Kennsington station. My only regret is that we couldnt stay longer at Number 16!

Number sixteen is a nice, cozy hotel, ideally located in South Kensington, 5 minutes from the South Kensington Tube station, in a quiet little side street off Old Brompton Road. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The single room is small, but the size was sufficient for one (rather petite) person and a short stay. The atmosphere was very relaxing, the overall design of the hotel helped to feel at home - people who prefer clear-cut lines and less decor however might find it a bit too much. Breakfast was ok, although a bit on the expensive side. There are enough little places near the hotel to have good breakfast at a much better price. Overall a recommended hotel, would definitely stay there again.
