Loved this hotel. We liked the location just south of Hyde Park. The staff was lovely and helpful. Our room was clean and quiet. I felt like we were staying at a friends very nice home.
We only ate breakfast there so I can't comment on the restaurant. Their breakfast buffet was nice with the typical choices. But it seemed fresh. I think you could order cooked to order breakfast but we were always up and on the go.
Lovely spot.

This is my 4th stay at Number Sixteen and I'm ready to just move in and call it
"home." Love the location in South Kensington, tucked off the busier nearby streets, on tree-lined, scenic residential Sumner Lane - a stone's throw from South Kensington Tube station, ATM machines, Starbucks (but I prefer Pret a Manger next to Starbucks for healthy, quick
snacks/salads to go, etc). Incredibly convenient.

Perhaps not perfect for certain business travelers because there isn't a gym and there are quirks about it (some of the carpeted floors squeak upstairs, some of the rooms might be smaller than some people expect), but I love the welcoming front desk staff, the fresh, colorful decor (every room has a different lay-out and decor by talented Kit Kemp), the glassed-in breakfast room in the back over looking the pretty garden, the front parlor rooms
with comfy sofas to kick back and relax - or order a glass of wine/cup of tea...the sleek bathrooms, the beds (comfortable as can be)...the whimsical touches and freshness about
the place.

Feels almost like staying at a friend's townhouse in London rather than a "hotel."

For a run or power walk in the morning, Hyde Park is about a 10 minute walk away...one passes the Victoria & Albert Museum en route to the park entrance.

Look forward to my next stay at Number Sixteen!

Room Tip: I have been here once before, when there was a party in the back garden...check to see if there is a...

The question left was not should I stay again, rather how can I stay longer and how soon.
Staff enjoy what they are doing, give you a tour of the premises and are on hand but not intrusive.
Great stay, planning my return

We stayed at Number Sixteen on the 21-23 May 2013. The hotel staff is friendly and accommodating, the decor is done in great taste, the afternoon tea and cuisine were very tasty and done nicely. The rooms were quaint and colorful. The library, sitting parlor, restaurant and courtyard were what made our decision to stay here. We enjoyed our visit. The complaint we had was that they rented out the dining room area and courtyard for an outside party and all the hotel guests were inconvenienced. There wasn't any mention of this upon our reservation, and this being a sold out boutique hotel with guests, paying premium room rates this wasn't sitting well with the guests of the hotel. Check to see if the hotel is rented out for outside parties prior to making reservations. We would have rated the hotel higher but the lack of concern for the inconvenienced guests made this a rating lower.

One of Kit Kemp's beautifully furnished hotels in London with an outdoor garden off the small breakfast room. This is a real retreat from the outside world but still close to everything. South Kensington tube is just round the corner and there are plenty of restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Helpful staff and lovely public areas. Definitely one of my favorite small hotels in London. If you feel like walking Harrods is just 25 minutes away and Victoria and Albert Museum about 15 minutes.

We would highly recommend afternoon tea at Number Sixteen to all those not into fancy names but are seeking the quality of fine food, excellent service in a relaxed atmosphere. We had walked passed Number Sixteen on a previous visit to London and thought how lovely it looked, unfortunately when booking this trip to London Number Sixteen was fully booked. During this trip we again stumbled upon Number Sixteen and decided to pop in to see if we were able to have afternoon tea. We were greeted with a huge smile and a warm welcome -offered a choice as to where we would like to sit. We would have loved to have sat in the stunning lush garden but sadly weather did not permit so we chose to sit in the conservatory. The service was exceptional nothing was too much trouble. The afternoon tea was absolutely spectacular and tasted every bit as gastronomic as it looked, I still dream about the lemon drizzle cake which was crunchy on the outside but so soft , fluffy, light and delicate on the inside the taste and texture mmmmmmmmmm.

I commend the management at Number Sixteen for their proficient happy staff and the ability to create this tranquil relaxed idylic haven.

If you scroll down far enough you are likely to find a number of our reviews of Number Sixteen - a boutique hotel converted out of a row of townhouses. Decoration is superb and this treasure does not have the feel of a hotel - more a guesthouse.
Some of the rooms are small so you need to know what you are booking - having said that, our room this visit was a bit too small once we opened our cases. Still that was my fault for not checking more thoroughly when we first booked.
Front desk team are friendly and helpful
The other issue is the breakfast area which is tiny. In warmer weather you can enjoy tables in the garden for breakfast which is superb, but in colder weather it is a squash so one option is to exclude breakfast when you book and instead head of one of more than a dozen really great cafes around South Kensington
Location is fabulous with the V & A and other galleries in easy walking distance as is Kings Road, Chelsea and hte Brompton Road shops

Room Tip: The garden view rooms are quieter - stairs are steep but the higher up the better !
