“Stayed Only One Night”

Awesome location in Mayfair across from Hyde Park. Four Seasons was across the street. Nobu restaurant was amazing. Charming staff. Informative concierge. Small rooms. Stunning wooden furnishings in room. Small lcd tv with nice selection of channels. Windows opened a bit for fresh air. Bathroom was recently redone. Super rain drop shower head.

Room Tip: Very small room. Beautifully Furnished. Nice new bathroom. Amazing Shower. Excellent toiletries.

We really only stayed at this hotel because we had won a voucher for one nights stay at a Charity Auction but as we were travelling from a distance, decided to book an extra night which we would pay for ourselves.
We had asked for an early check in when we booked but knowing London hotels well, were not holding out too much hope. When we arrived at 11am were immidately greeted by friendly and warm smiling faces who could not be more helpful if they tried. We asked if our room was by chance ready but were told that it would be about an hour - this is not too bad and had we not been meeting friends for lunch, would have been fine. We asked if there was somewhere we could have a quick freshen up after our trip and were shown down to the changing rooms for the gym (which sadly was under refurbishment). The changing rooms were clean and well equipped and we quickly sorted ourselves out and (as we were a little early for our lunch date) headed up to the lobby for a cup of tea. No sooner had i ordered our tea when the Guest Relations Manager, Scott, came over and told us that he had juggled a bit and had a room ready for us - Fantasic again!
We were shown up to the tenth floor to a fabulous Park Studio (an upgrade for us). The room was light, airy and had everything you could possible want in it. There were amazing views over Hyde Park and I immediately felt sad that we had to leave it to go to lunch.
After a great nights sleep on an incredibly comfortable bed, we went down to breakfast (which sensibly is until 11.30 on weekends). Very nice light room with pleasant staff and great food. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Room Service lunch was nice, although would prefer to see a lighter range on the menu - didnt really want a big lunch and a plain old sandwich would have been preferable, but what had was nice and was quickly delivered.
Another reason that the Metropolitan appealed to us is the location of "Nobu" on the first floor of the hotel. One of our favourite restaurants and having secured a fairly short notice reservation for the Saturday night, we were really looking forward to it. After a quick drink in the Met Bar, which was strangely quite quiet, we headed back upstiars to the restaurant. Again, fantastic!!!
Sunday morning dawned and we were very sad to leave the hotel. Check out was painless and quick and our car was brought back to us quickly.
This hotel is lovely - the staff are friendly and helpful, always have a smile on their faces and remember your name. We will definitely be back as this is now possibly our favourite hotel in London!!
Highly recommended!!!

Room Tip: Pay a little more and have a park studio!

What an amazing hotel! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were looked after very well. It is rather difficult traveling around with a two year old but the hotel sorted out all of our needs before we even turned up. Nothing was too much trouble! We had connecting rooms with our friends which we did not even ask for, which proved to be valuable!

Rooms were spotless and the attention to detail during our stay was exactly what we were looking for when searching for a 5* hotel in London.

We are already planning our next visit!

We stayed at the Metropolitan for 5 nights in December. We did a lot of shopping for Christmas and left it in our room each day but by the time we came to pack our bags and leave we noticed a number of items had gone missing from some of the shopping bags. We informed security and after a thorough search of the room they promised to carry out an internal investigation and get back to us within a 'few' days.
We are still waiting for a response a month later depsite emailing them twice (without reply) to find out what they are doing about it - value of stolen property 200 pounds, hotel bill 3000 pounds, likleyhood of frequenting this establishment again - zero.

Room Tip: Ask for a safe large enough to fit your personal property in.

Further to our recent direct communication I would like to apologise once again for our failure to respond to you about this matter in a timely manner. As previously mentioned the lack of response was not an attempt to ignore the situation and your experience does not reflect our brand values or our service levels for which we are normally very well regarded.

Your review has prompted a review of our follow up procedures to ensure that we deliver as promised on every occasion. At the Metropolitan, as part of COMO Hotels and Resorts, service delivery is a crucial element of what we do and it is very disappointing to know that we failed in this respect for you.

As stated in my letter I truly hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.

Warm regards,

Andrew

The second time i've stayed at The Metropolitan; excellent quality of service and an excellent central location which makes getting around relatively easy, with public transport within walking distance, as well as taxis being available at all times. The food at Nobu is phenomenal of course, although the service was a bit patchy for some reason, the night we went.
Prices are high but, in London terms, i'd say they're justified for a special occasion short stay.

This is a brilliant hotel if you like modern decor and facilities. I'd not hesitate to stay again if my budget was in this range- though access to the met bar is one of the big plusses.

Staff are very genuinely friendly for this type of hotel.

Location is not the best if you like walking to things, which in London is a must really if you are going to pay 5* prices.

Thank you for your generous feedback about the design of the hotel and our staff. I am very glad to hear you enjoyed the Met Bar whilst you were with us.

Since your stay the bar has undergone a major refurbishment and it was re-launched in October 2011with a whole new look; an expanded and innovative cocktail menu, and seasonal British classic cuisine. At the same time the bar has retained its sophistication and we are hopeful it will soon become the venue of choice on Park Lane.

If you are planning a return to London please let me know and I will be delighted to make your booking personally for you.

Best regards,

Andrew

Stayed here for a couple of nights in December. This hotel delivers a service that is consistent with what one would expect in a five star hotel: the reception, concierge and room service staff were courteous and professional; the quality of the food delivered to the room was excellent; the spa, though small, is of a high standard. It is also located brilliantly in the heart of London, close to everything one could want, although the immediate vicinity of Mayfair is ever so slightly dull. Nobu is world-renowned as one of the best restaurants in London.

On the downside, the hotel lacks a "wow" factor when you enter the lobby or your room. Nor do you at least say to yourself "very nice" with a satisfied smile upon entry. The design is modern (well, in an early-to-mid-2000s kind of way), minimalist and functional, which will appeal to some, but there is a lack of genuine luxury that perhaps one expects in a five star. For this reason, it is not in the top half of 5 star hotels (and the rates I paid perhaps reflects this). Other downsides are the slight stinginess on the toiletries (three refillable bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel which were not even refilled or replaced on day 2), a TV screen that kept on breaking up and a bathroom which is quite small (I stayed in a deluxe room).

All in all, a very pleasant stay though.
