London has some of the best parks I've been to in ages - and that includes Chicago, New York, and Paris, recently. St James park was simply the nicest of all of them. No matter which side of the pond you're on, the views are phenomenal. The gardens are beautiful, the benches are in the most picturesque spots, you can be in the sun or in the shade, and the views by the shed (duck-keepers quarters, maybe? I can't remember offhand) are enough to give pause. As an added bonus, you might be able to get a squirrel to climb up your leg, so I hope you play your cards right.
Keep an eye out for the rented-lounges. They're a little pricey but they're incredibly comfortable. Even more important, if you're there on a rainy day, you'll get to see the monitor/worker standing in the rain making sure no one is relaxing. It's worth a laugh.
