Owner description: Far beneath the majesty and splendor of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protegee Christine Daae is so strong that even her heart cannot resist. The musical opened at Her Majesty's Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 26th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End, after more than 10,000 performances. Andrew Lloyd Webber's mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

The staging of the play was so very creative, the costumes beautiful, and the voices magnificent. There are several convenient restaurants across the street (we had a delicious meal at the Haymarket Hotel).

Excellent scenery - was in the cheaper seats as only booked last minute. The voice of the phantom in particular was amazing and, rightly so, he was the audience's favourite. It is an old theatre and the history of it all adds to the experience for me. Had high expectations and certainly was not disappointed. Highly recommend the facility to order your drinks in advance ready for the interval to save having to queue.

Have seen Phantom in Calgary, Detroit and New York, as I'm British thought I should see it in London! Was not disappointed, the story and music are still as good as ever. To the people who comment about the theatre being old and seats being hard, remember that most London theatres are old!

The seats were small and uncomfortable, and it was very hot inside. Our fellow patrons were reeking of perfume, and other civilities were in short order. We were in row G, right of center. Once the show started, though, it was easily enough forgotten. Geronimo Rauch was incredible as the Phantom - he's a must-see. The merchandise windows closed too soon after the show for us to purchase anything. Even with all this, you need to see this version of the show!
