The hotel is situated on the corner of the Strand and Aldwych, close to Covent Garden, and easily accessible from a number of tube stations.
We were staying for a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday, having booked through Secret Escapes.
Prior to our visit we had rec'd an e-mail asking what time we would be arriving and if we had any preferences. We said we would be arriving c11.00 and it would be great if the room was available, and also would like a high floor with a view. Both these were achieved when we arrived, being on the 5th floor. Check in was easy and we were shown to our room by the check in lady, who also explained all the facilities in the room and hotel. Rooms are triple glazed and despite being in central London on a Saturday night we were not disturbed by any outside noise.
We were in an executive room, and this includes fresh fruit, bottled water in the evening and towels changed during the evening.
The room was a reasonable size for central London and included a separate bath and walk in shower. Included was free internet, and DVD facilities.
The lobby bar is a good place for a drink, at any time of day, although be prepared to pay 5* hotel prices. We were on a bed and breakfast basis and breakfast was served in the restaurant on the mezzanine floor, although there are also other options. Breakfast is served, not buffet, and on half board you can use your allowance either on a traditional breakfast, or for items off the a la carte. The food was very high quality, along with the service provided.
I had told the hotel that we were visiting for an occasion, and the gift provided complementary by the hotel was a very pleasant surprise.
Overall, this is a very high quality hotel, with excellent service and facilities in a great location. It's not the cheapest hotel in London, but offers can be found, but the experience justifies the rates it charges. I would recommend it strongly for anyone seeking a bit of luxury for a weekend.
