“Best in London”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

One Aldwych has a special charm that makes it stand out a notch above other luxury hotels. It's modern bar with excellent service is one of the most lively bar scenes in London. Rooms are plenty comfortable with great amenities. Hotel is perfectly located and was convenient to other great restaurants and cafes in the area. Front desk staff are outstanding and were very attentive. I would certainly return or future stays for both business and personal purposes.

My husband and I spent four wonderful nights in this hotel! Our room was large and comfortable and the modern conveniences pampered our every need! Upon arrival, the very courteous staff gave us a tour of our room (really recommend this - we would never have known half of the perks of the room had we not had the tour!) The decor was modern and tastefully done, and the bed was very comfortable! Our room was right beside the elevator on the 6th floor, but we never heard other guests outside our room. It was very private. The complimentary shoe shine service was a bonus we loved!

This was meant to be a relaxing time away, so one of our favorite locations in the hotel was the pool area. This indoor pool had a great length for swimming laps and the music and aquarium video made the area a calm and relaxing place! We also can't give enough accolades to the concierge staff. All of them were helpful in recommending restaurants and their assistance was outstanding when it came to finding the perfect theatre tickets for the four shows we saw. We felt spoiled, pampered, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at One Aldwych. We would certainly stay here again!

We had afternoon tea here with friends yesterday. Suffice to say, I didn't need supper later on! There was an unbelievable amount of food - coronation chicken sandwiches, smoked salmon sandwiches, egg sandwich, pigs in blankets and tiny little quiches, followed by scones (two types) with clotted cream and jam and crumpets with lemon curd, plus little trifles, battenburg, chestnut gateaux and coffee gateaux and your choice of tea....plus I had a champagne cocktail.....well, I just had to......all enjoyed in the light and airy bar area, watching double deckers rolling past the floor to ceiling windows. I thoroughly recommend this after a busy day in London...and then perhaps a stroll across Waterloo Bridge as the sun sets, listening to "Waterloo Sunset" on your iPod :)

I have stayed at this hotel off and on over the past 8 years. Its age is beginning to show in the rooms. Service (front office, restaurants) overall is good but not great. Rooms are compact. Bed and pillows are comfortable. I wish electric plug points were placed ergonomically. The bathrooms don't have a separate shower stall. The tub is kinda high and the whole set up results in most of the shower spray flooding the granite bathroom. A significant safety hazard. Room service menu is limited and I wasn't impressed by the preparation of my selection. Breakfast was pretty good. At the end of the day, its all about the location of this hotel that gets me to stay there!

Just had a one night trip in London recently and chose One Aldwych for its location. It was fantastic in that regard, but I have to say I was also very impressed with the service. Very attentive and responsive to every enquiry. Rooms very well appointed and bathroom a good size. Separate shower and bath is always a plus in my book. Didn't eat there but the bar is very nice and always seemed busy. Would definitely return.

We stayed at One Aldwych in July 2012 and were very pleased. The location is exceptional for walking around Covent Gardens and Soho. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant stay and provided excellent restaurant recommendations. Our last night the hotel had an unfortunate incident where the fire alarm went off. Although the staff was flustered and did not sufficiently direct everyone in the halls, they made an outstanding effort to apologize the next morning. They had a fabulous breakfast to go waiting for our party of 4 at 6am as we prepared to leave for the airport. They went above and beyond what I have seen at other hotels to make sure their guests are happy. We will definitely return.

Dear Hmarti24

Thank you for your review of One Aldwych. We appreciate your positive comments, including our location in Covent Garden and the excellent service you received throughout your stay. I would like to apologise that our Fire Alarm was raised on your last night. We do take our Fire Procedures extremely seriously and this was thankfully a false alarm. I am delighted that you wish to return to the hotel and we hope to see you soon.
