“A nice Boutique hotel in a great location.”
Reviewed September 29, 2012 via mobile

This is a very nice boutique hotel, in a great location very near to Portobello road, but still very private and quiet.
It may be a little old but that adds to its character, and possibly a little overpriced, but all in all it was perfect for our romantic night in London, and we would probably book here again.

A perfect place if you want a private but central location. Ideally situated near Portobello Road and Kensington High Street. Rooms imaginatively decorated Hiving a sense of decadence and calm ...lots of interesting items including roll top baths, circular beds. I love the idea you can open your balcony doors and still have complete privacy offeted by the trees beyond. It's a pity there didn't seem to be access to the park beyond. For a hotel of its reputation the things you normally cast a fleeting glance at eg sockets, curtain rails, wooden blinds etc all seemed a bit worn. Not that I mind this at all but it didn't reflect the price paid. That said I would definitely visit again for the seclusion and fab location next to the huddle and bustle.

I took my wife here for our 15th wedding anniversary. We got what we expected, total privacy, but attention when we needed.
If you want a Hotel as a base to explore or for Business don't go.
If you want total romance and intimacy, with privacy, then this is the Hotel for you.
Reception staff were brilliant, room service good, although he couldn't carry all our order in one go!
Stayed in room 16, I would not advise this room, purely on the basis that we want to stay there again, and don't want it to be booked up!!

My wife and I stayed in June and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff are great, the breakfast's in the lounge overlooking the garden were good, and the hotel is a quick walk down to Notting Hill and Portobello Road. I love the fact they let you have b'fast till 12pm.....
The beds are very comfortable and although the bathroom is TINY, we liked the room. Great value and so much more enjoyable than staying on one of those monster corporate hotels in London. They also own Julie's restaurant, just a 5 minute walk away, which is wonderful. We will be back!

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the private garden are quiet.

We absolutely loved this hotel. It's faded elegance is such a refreshing change from many other London hotels. We had a gorgeous circular bed with a sweet balcony and a huge bath in our room. Beautiful, a little bit expensive but just lovely. Staff were kind and pleasant but not intrusive and I can't wait to go back!

I live in London and stayed here with my friend who was over from Australia on a girly night out. This hotel really needs to be updated to London standards. Some may say this is a charming hotel but hotels can be charming, cool and of high quality. It was very expensive. The chap on concierge had poor customer service and overall my experience at this hotel was disappointing.

This hotel looked lovely on the site, but the reality was very different. It is not charming, but old and tired and ridiculously over priced for what you get. The rooms are all tiny as on arrival we were so disappointed and asked to be changed (£300 a night and no room to put a suitcase) but found all the rooms were of the same size and comprised of the same tired old furniture and fake dusty antiques. This is a tourist trap to be avoided.
