“Tea here is wonderful, with lots of sweets.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

I have not stayed here, but it looks very wonderful. I did have the very fancy Fashionista Afternoon Tea. It was wonderful. Unlimited nibbles with a great selections of tea's.

Service was very nice. The finger sandwiches were lovely and the sweets were almost to cute to eat. I will say for one person, there is just too much to eat, but it was delightful, and they will wrap up the goodies in a cute little purse shaped to-go box.

All the desert items are inspired by current runway fashions, complete with a guide book to explain. The treats were mouth watering.

This is a true treat that I would suggest.

The hotel is very nice, so dress like you are going to a nice spot for lunch.

Room Tip: The sweets are very sweet, so make sure you are in the mood.

Came here with Friends to visit the Shard on its opening weekend. Staff were excellent, attentive, formal yet relaxed. Our room was lovely with a nice view and a balcony, our friends had a decent view from their room too; but they also had a fancy Japanese toilet and all we had was a bidet :)

The look of the hotel is high decandent but without being tacky; exceptionally refined. I particularly liked the Marble Skirting boards. There was a beautiful flower display as you enter the hotel; stop and admire beautiful.

It was a splendid food experience at Marcus Wareing with the Tasting menu; indeed my palatte was pushed to new levels of appreciation; a pleasant experience which doesn't happen often. Afterward we carefully tiptoed through the Caramel room where a sea of attractive 25-35 year old women enjoyed their Afternoon Tea (Prêt-à-Portea); Hitchcock's "The Birds" springs to mind.

Later we enjoyed some cocktails in the Blue Bar. A bit knackered after the day it was nice to be talked to about cocktails as the enormous range of options was overwhelming. The Bar itself was very vibrant and clearly was the place to be; like somewhere trendy, popular and exclusive.

Lastly I savoured the Berkeley Club Sandwich which was brought to me in style by Room Service. My Wife had Toast, but it was far from plain. We'll be going back again, a Dream home away from home.

After a recommendation, we came here to meet friends for a quick predinner drink on Friday 15 February, before dining locally at Petrus. The reception was cursory, and when we asked for a prosecco for one of our party, we were told by the female staff member, in a condescending manner, it was not available here. 3 guests had a glass of wine each, and the other 3 a simple cocktail. For our 6 drinks the bill came to £120!!!! . Outrageous, and our drinks were served with such a snooty attitude.

the cakes are a little qwerky being in the shapes of shoes and clothes and it was a really nice afternoon. we both enjoyed it and the only reason we wouldn't visit this place again is so we can compare it with other hotels.

I was looking for a good offer for a spoil myself weekend in London with retail therapy on the doorstep. The Berkeley hits the mark. Rooms are recently rennovated, staff friendly & not sniffy & a welcoming feeling from this hotel. Less swanky than the Savoy & more accessible than the Ritz, you feel u are getting better value for money than many London hotels but still feel you are indulging youself. The Marcus Waring delivered innovative, delicious food & the afternoon tea was relaxed & fun :) loved the stay.

Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to stay at the hotel but spent a lovely afternoon there enjoying their Pret a portea which was fantastic and completely original. The staff were very helpful and explained all the different cakes and how they related to the various designers. The whole atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff could not do enough for you to ensure your visit was memorable. We spent two and a half hours there and sampled all the delights and was really surprised to be given a little green bag with 3 cakes in to take home which was wonderful as I could share the experience with my daughter. Cant recommend it highly enough.

I returned here after a 10 year hiatus and was more than pleasantly surprised. I don't recall exactly why we stopped using this hotel (snooty service and their lack of love of children and Americans perhaps), but this trip was entirely different. I didn't love the room we were offered at (early) check-in, so asked for another room and by moving up to the next category stayed in a room that I adored. From that moment everything about my stay exceeded expectations and I felt the bill was worth every penny. I will return.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms on the side overlooking the church.
