What an unexpected treat and possibly the best spent £5 in the whole of London on a Sunday morning. We thought we would jump on board for a quick look round this beautifully reconstructed ship, but with a pirate obsesssed 7 yr old in tow, the fantastically interactive historic talks drew us in. Two and a half hours later we finally disembarked with a full, and rather graphic, knowledge of the work of the gruesome barber surgeons, how to shoot a cannon and navigating the globe in the 16th century. Wonderful experience for all ages and excellent value for money, highly recommend.

We took our two girls here for a visit and had a super time. The historical talks were fantastic and really engaging for all of us. We also thought it was good value for money compared with other London attractions.

........ said my wife and it was - found just wandering along the Thames - didn't even know such a magnificent reconstruction had been done. It really brings home to you how small boats were in those days and so how brave the likes of Drake and his merry band were ..... as well as often being up to no good !

What is a bit of fun about London is that you do not always really know what is hiding around the corner ... like this: a 'real' full-scale pirate ship! It also reminds us of old times and an era filled with tough living conditions for all sailors. Nowadays rather a nostalgic glimmer of adventure from 'Hollywood's heyday' - we missed Captain Hook though ... In summary - this is more for big and small children than a real attraction; the ship is excellent to see only from the outside, but it definitely has an interesting history!

Thank you for writing a review. Sorry to hear you missed Captain Hook over the summer. We run various family events over school holidays and history talks over weekends so you can find out about life aboard 16th century ships which make visiting the ship far more interesting when you're aboard! We hope you will come aboard another time to discover her fascinating history.

Fantastic for £5 each. I learnt alot from our visit, all about the ship, how crew lived, barbers surgeons..... listen to the talks they give they really get into character. Great for kids and adults alike. Great looking around and imagining you were traveling on the Golden Hinde immersing yourself in history. We both loved it.
