This gem is located on the Southbank, near Southwark Cathedral. It is a full sized replica of Sir Francis Drake's vessel that circumnavigated the world 1577/1580. It is staffed by in period costume students who can speak to the exploits and who will also explain the importance of the project. Donations are welcome and, I think, deserved.
I was amazed at the lack of space and wondered what kind of special adventurer manned this vessel. Surely as daunting as a space shot! Cramped does not describe the conditions! The Errol Flynn & Hollywood movie makers grossly over sized the ships of the era in their movies!
I spent an hour or so walking through the vessel, bumping my head, muttering and speaking with the student crew members. In addition to visits, it offers educational programmes.
I think that it is a wonderful exhibit and one that should be on a visitor list.
