It looks just like the pictures show, but for the acoustics and sense of scale you need to be there. The guide also gave us a sense of what it must’ve smelled (stank) like. The guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He worked hard to convey the approach Shakespeare took with the audience. He answered all of my questions.

We took our 12 and 14 yr old grandsons and must say that not only were they confused but so were we! We understood that one of the female characters was dressed as a male for her protection but there were females playing the parts of males and vice versa. It was also disappointing that they were not in full costume.

Attended a number of performances here, and you don't know Shakespeare properly until you've been. Choose the seating, bring or hire a cushion. Sit in a back row if you need back support. Some productions are a bit quirky, check reviews. Do read the play first, as it's easy to miss things however well enunciated. Interval is short, preorder meat pie and drinks to avoid queues. Puzzle - sit next to US enthusiasts then discover the don't come back after the interval - why? Our theory is they think that it's over!

First of all a reminder that this theater is not the original Globe theater in which shakespeare’s plays were performed - it is a modern re-creation. That said, the theater is faithfully re-created and the tour was very interesting and enlightening Our tour guide was very engaging and gave us an excellent background into the Shakespearean play experience. For those of you into the arts or theater I think you would find this a very worthwhile part of your London experience Photography is welcome and you are permitted to walk around the theater floor at certain parts of the tour but are requested not to go up on the stage
Keep in mind that- since this theater is based on the original plan- it is an open air Theatre; meaning that if the weather is inclement it will affect the conditions of your tour as you go through theater
During the busy tourist season you may definitely want to purchase tickets in advance and then return at the scheduled time of your tour

Shakespeare’s Globe looks amazing. We will definitely be going to see a show there next time we visit London.
