A year ago we stayed at the Savoy on our wedding night and I wrote titling the experience 'utter perfection'. Today we were back here for our first wedding anniversary.
Another superb afternoon in utter luxury. If you are reading this and wondering whether to go to the Savoy or elsewhere for afternoon tea, come here. The staff are still attentive but not intrusive, chatty when you want them to be, polite to a fault, extremely well turned out with the highest standards possible. Our man today was Trevor, 6 months in the job, and loving every minute. The chap who served our pastries - it was his first day today. Both were excellent. The food as exquisit as ever, champagne crisp and chilled, more sandwiches when we asked, scones as light as a feather, but 3 different pastries than a year ago which was nice. An orange pastry more clemantine really but not over-sweet, a huge strawberry macaroon, and a fruit tart. The best of them was of course the lavender eclair. Quite delightful. I should have held back on my scones and asked for more eclairs.
The staff will take pictures of you to mark the occasion - nothing is too much trouble.
But the real piece de resistance was when the pianist appeared. Trevor had a quiet word at my request and she played our wedding dance - Everything, by Michael Buble, as her first song. Wonderful, thankyou all so much. We were given a slice of cake with a candle and 'Happy Anniversary' piped on the plate as an extra, and were so full our last course of cakes were boxed and bagged up for our journey home quickly and efficiently.
Two hours flew past. We were sad to leave, but as The Savoy is special to us, and the service so fantastic, the staff so perfectly polite, the food so delicious, that we have vowed to be back every year for tea, or dinner, or whatever we can afford.
Its perfection as standard. It appears so effortless, and its so wonderful. Roll on our next anniversary or excuse to go back. And thanks again to the amazing staff that served us.

May I add a tip? Perhaps next year they could do a lemony pastry, something really light? But please, keep doing what you're doing.

Many congratulations on your recent Anniversary and we are delighted you decided to return to The Savoy to celebrate. Your lovely comments are much appreciated and have been shared with Trevor and the team, and as for the lemony pastry we have passed this comment to our Executive Chef so you never know. Please don't wait for another year to return!

Just as you would expect, outstanding service and nothing to disappoint. Faultless charm and outstanding service! London at its traditional and classical best. Everything from check in to check out works so smoothly!

Decided to pop in for a couple of drinks. As the bar was packed had to wait a few minutes in the Museum Bar before being lead to our seats at the bar. The atmosphere was superb with a cool pianist. All of the staff were polite and friendly - our 2 Vespers were incredible. Glad that we had dressed up - highly recommended for an evening of indulgence

After watching the TV program on the restoration of the Savoy we chose the Savoy to begin our trip to Europe (from Australia). It was the perfect choice. The Hotel is outstanding in everyday. It works. The public areas are stunning , our room was an absolute delight , the staff - complete professionals in a friendly , welcoming way. What we experienced was a Hotel that respects the past but has not stayed in it. There is no "stuffiness" at all but there is polite , elegant attention to detail. An example is that every time we ate or drank in one of the restaurants or bars when we returned to our room it had been freshened up. We arrived very early in the morning from Australia and were whisked unexpectedly straight to our room overlooking the river. What was highly appreciated it that the Savoy has eliminated the queue! We were taken straight to our room and there was no formal check in , just a verbal confirmation of my details and credit card on file. Check out was the same. In the restaurants and bars we did not have to wait to sign a bill , just a thank you from the staff and we were on our way. If you are thinking of staying here don't hesitate , you will not regret it. Fortunately for us we booked the hotel to finished the trip to Europe off before we fly back to Australia so we get to experience it all again!

From the moment I walked in the door you feel special and appreciated. I was passed from one person to the next until I was escorted to my room. The room was very large and very luxurious. The finishes were beautiful. It was modern elegance. The room was very quiet and comfortable. The bed linens were so soft and lent to a great night's sleep. I was blown away at the level of service throughout my stay. I even had a few star sightings, Russell Brand (walked right past my room in his robe!) and I heard rumors of Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham. Had a cocktail in the original American Bar, it was the "Renovation Cocktail" and it was amazing. Also had drinks in the Beaufort Bar, a beautifully appointed lounge with amazing live entertainment. I had a lemon tequila drink, so good.
