Perhaps like many, I was inspired to book a weekend at Claridge's after having seen the 'fly on the wall' documentary programme. I thought it looked wonderful on the TV, I enjoyed some of the stories and the history behind the hotel and I thought all the staff from the General Manager down seemed fantastically committed to their work and their visitors.
We stayed for one saturday night in a Deluxe room, had dinner in the Gordon Ramsey restaurant on the saturday night and had afternoon tea on the sunday afternoon. So a full Claridge's experience.
It was more than a match for the billing. I cannot complain about one element. Everything was exceptional. The room, the fact they got our luggage to our room and hung our clothes before we got there, that the champagne and chocolate strawberries were also there before we arrived, from the reception staff to the lift attendant to the waiting staff - it was all magnificent.
We both had a massage and it was very good. But the spa is not what the hotel is renowned for so dont have too high expectations for this part of your stay.
I have had the good fortune to stay at top hotels around the world and from a pure luxurious experience point of view with classy service, comfortable beds and smart surroundings, I dont think you can beat it.
Well worth a treat.More
