Owner description: Somerset House is a spectacular neo-classical building in the heart of London, sitting between the Strand and the River Thames. During summer months 55 fountains dance in the courtyard, and in winter you can skate on London's favourite ice rink. Somerset House also hosts open-air concerts and films, contemporary art, design and fashion exhibitions, family workshops and free guided tours of spaces usually hidden to visitors. The Trust's mission is to conserve and maintain Somerset House to the highest standards and to develop the site as a public space which is universally recognised as a world class visitor attraction and centre of excellence for culture and the arts.

Visited here on July 21st to see Basement Jaxx close the summer series concert events. Somerset House is amazing. The courtyard where I believe there are dancing fountains usually is closed off and transformed into an open air show - impressive stage area - images and words projected onto the historical building - no issues with bar or going to the loo, very quick and clean facilities, lots of toilets albeit lots of stairs to get to! We were particularly blessed with warm weather on this balmy summer night and this certainly contributed to the atmosphere. I will be looking out for this concerts every year now. Also worth noting it is ridiculously easy to get here from Temple/Embankment tube stations and there are a selection of eateries including celeb chef Tom Aitkens here although my recommendation would be to spend your money wiser by visiting the fabulous Delaunay.

We went to see the brilliant Lianne La Havas at Somerset house. The location was stunning and we were blessed with amazing weather. The atmosphere was lovely. I would have said that this was a wonderful evening if we not been frighteningly overcharged for a round of drinks. Two pints of lager, two glasses of wine, a large Pimms and bottle of water £40.50 absolutely outrageous. When I questioned the young lady who served me, she just shrugged! Left a nasty taste in the mouth!

the inner court with its water feature is a haven of tranquility in the center of this bustling city. Don't miss the Courtauld gallery with its impressive collection of impressionist artworks.

Majestic setting and building to host the El Bulli exhibition, showing how Feran Adria and his team furthered gastronomy for everyone. Really informative and inspiring. Go see it if you like food, Ferran is number one!
