Owner description: Serving as the Royal Residence, this historic house was commissioned by Queen Anne of Denmark, the wife of James I (reigned 1603-25), and now displays the National Maritime Museum's early art collection and sponsors special events.

I loved this place, it was calm and tranquil after the bustle of the maritime museum, but a sulky teen meant rushing through some of the finest maritime art work I have ever seen. If you only get then chance to see one painting then the battle of trafalgar is it, tucked away downstairs - you could easily spend an hour looking at all the detail. A free to visit (donations welcome) venue that I thoroughly recommend

Excellent tour, the guide gives you interesting information about the history of the house and the architecture. It's free and takes only half an hour.

The Queens House is a nice walk along Greenwich Green, the entry is free and worth it to see the Turner painting of The Battle of Waterloo

Well worth trying to tag on to a free guided tour, out guide was excellent. The building give you a true feeling for the times, and accommodates some wonderful art from the times taken from around europe. Enjoy some time out away from the crowds, and its free.

We only made a quick visit here as part of our day in Greenwich but it was worth it. The house is beautiful, and we had learned about it earlier at the Visitor centre. I was surprised to see the art work here having never heard of it but am so glad we visited. Paintings I had seen in books etc and it was quiet so no battling to see them. The tulip staircase is stunning and worth visiting just for that!
