Probably the most condensed collection in the world. Allows you to visit just one museum and then never bother again in your life. Old world, new world - and armour, amour and history. If this was a shop it would be the Harrods of antiques, culture and weaponry.

Situated in Manchester Square this is a free and absorbing museum. Excellent paintings including works by Canaletto wonderful collection of snuff boxes furniture and a very large Armory. The exhibition includes The Laughing Cavalier by Frans Hals - you will not see this painting in any exhibition outside this collection - it is always in the collection here. A short stroll from the bustling streets of the West End. Not to be missed.

A most beautiful building in central London - I never knew existed. Holding the most amazing collections dating back pre 16th century. It has something for everyone who appreciates delving into the past. A big WOW factor. Need to go back.

We only popped in for a spot of lunch, and dodn't really have time to look at "The Collection" which is pretty big and eclectic - Paintings, Ceramics, Works of Art, Armour etc etc. Entry is free.
The Atrium there houses a restaurant on one side and a cafe on the other, it's esentially two halves of a big covered courtyard.
The place is light and airy, and the food (in the cafe side) was excellent. I say cafe, but it is effectively a restaurant with a limited menu. There were 5 of us and we had variously - soup, mussels & chips, quiche, and tea/coffee/elderflower cordial /gin & Tonic !
It wasn't cheap (what in London is ?) but it was very good, in a lovely setting, much nicer than a typical coffee shop or starbucks. Definitely a place to return to.
The toilets were nice & clean too.
