Owner description: Both a national museum and a prestigious private collection of art bequeathed by Lady Wallace in 1897, this attraction features one of the world's best collections of French 18th-century pictures, porcelain and furniture, plus a fantastic array of 17th-century paintings.

A museum slightly off the core tourist track but with magnificent history, superb paintings 'Laughing cavalier', Rembrandt's portrait of his son etc and a Sevre porcelain collection that can only be matched in a few other places.

Free entry, recently refurbished rooms with beautiful silk wallpapers, variety of art works, miniatures, porcelain and armoury. Have attended some of the art workshops held for adults at the weekend, all very good. Lots of good events for families and schools and evening lectures of interest. I cannot believe that some visitors to London still don't know that the Wallace exists!

It is a treasure house of art and furnishings that rival museums for quality and variety. Impossible not to be impressed with the walk-through tour (self-guided). You can get face to face with Rembrandt, Hals, VanMeer, etc. The collections of Sevre and Chinese Porcelains as well as magnificent 17th and 18th century French furniture are not to be missed.

A perfect place to see an amazing collection of French and Italian painting with beautiful restaured furniture, curtains and wall fabric by the Lyon silk from Prelle. Without forgetting the best place for an afternoon tea in central London.
