My favourite museum. Lots of good stuff to see - the original Sutton Hoo treasure (the stuff in Suffolk is a replica) for instance. Cafe is overpriced tho.

To visit is free but allow plenty of time if you wish to see all exhibits, maybe even all day. Vast array of artefacts and great if raining. On a tight schedule we spent just over an hour looking at the Elgin Marbles and Rosetta Stone amongst other things. Thoroughly worth a visit.

I'd been looking forward to seeing this exhibition and wasn't disappointed.
As always the BM has done a fantastic job of capturing the best artefacts and images and laying out a display which tells the story of Thonis-Heracleion and Canopus, cities lying underwater at the mouth of the Nile.
The colossal statues are awe-inspiring but so are the minute pieces of jewellery and coinage.
It will be interesting to learn more about the continuing exploration of this undersea area.

Thank Liz G
