Awesome displays , great staff... displays you can walk right up to , gaze at , for as long as you want. World famous exhibits , rare exhibits , one of a kinds , national treasures ...amazing. Spent 4-5 hours there and wasnt close to enough..could easily spend 1-2 days.

A concentration of early Egyptian and Greek artifacts beautifully displayed with natural light. Was totally impressed with the Elgin marbles. Hard to believe they are over 2000 years old. The Rosetta stone was also impressive. Free admission!

I was really excited seeing some of the things they managed to "take" from other cultures and place in the museum. Especially the artifacts from Assyria and Egypt. Mind blowing. And of course, the Rosetta stone.

Firstly, you are not going to get this done in a day so do your research and decide what you want to see. There is certainly plenty to see here and it can be a bit overwhelming so get a map when you go in! There are a few highlights of what to see on the map, which is what we did and that took us a good couple of hours! There are some fabulous items here and the museum is big, so there is plenty of space for all the visitors. However, be prepared for some areas to be quite busy, even during the week. For lovers of culture, or just lovers of a fine day out (for free) the British Museum is a must.

Main problem: bad organization. Seriously, it's hard to get around and the exhibitions are badly arranged...no chronological order...the pieces of art are really impressive and the museum would be so much better if it were more organised. Overall, it's great for history lovers, who will eventually make their way through the crowd and see what they want to...I'm not that into the past, so at one point I felt like all I had to do was leave and see the Science Museum, really.
