An impressive Museum with so much to see. Particuarly liked Egyptology section. Found the layout a bit puzzling and their map was not so easy to follow. Too much to see in one visit - wear comfortable shoes! Food and drinks expensive and would have liked a proper cup and a proper knife at those prices!

We loved the area of Egypt and Assyria. You have to organize yourself good time to see everything, because only the zone and around Egypt you need a morning, so if you want to see everything You MUST come back another day, there isn´t problem because the musseum is free

We visited this exhibition on Saturday 31 August, and were terribly disappointed! Not with the exhibiton and the fantastic items on show, but the badly arranged way visitors were let in at any one time. Far too many people per viewing. We were unable to see all the exhibits as it was far too crowded. It felt like we shuffled around similar to being in an Ikea showroom!! What was on show was amazing, and we hope to visit Pompeii next year. Our advice is to be prepared for long queuing to see a particular exhibit, and to accept you will be irritated by ill mannered people pushing in and walking in front of your eyeline. It was also airless - far too hot in a very confined space. In conclusion, too many people per viewing - are you only in it for the revenue Bristih Museum?

Visited the Pompiie exhibition- brilliantly done-loved the way it was set out as the town itself. Kept both of us fully engaged which for a six year old was almost a first. The exhibition is finishing soon but if you haven't been, it is worth visiting-the advice I heard while queuing on Monday morning was that all the tickets for each day had usually sold out by 11.

Unhelpful staff did not help this visit.
The unhelpful is aimed more at the security staff than normal staff. The museum is in amazing settings, the special exhibitions are in the central part and tend the be well set out.
The regular staff are fantastic, very polite and friendly and are very knowledgable. However, the aforementioned security staff are the most rude, indiscreet, impolite apes I have ever encountered in such a place. This is based on how they spoke to somebody taking photographs which was apparrently not allowed. Maybe in future there might be some sort of visible notice to this effect?
Quite pathetic, to be honest. I wonder why they didn't apporach a chap such as myself with the same attitude?
The fee I metioned below is for special exhibitions and not for general admission.
