There is so much to see in this museum. Go early to avoid the long lines in front. There is also a back entrance with a lot less people waiting for security check ins. The artifacts are amazing and it is easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of people. Take your time and give the place at least 2.5 hours.

There is so much to see here...a must do when in London. We favored the Rosetta stone, the Discobulus, and the Egyptian collection is second to none.

My very first visit to the British Museum and its awesome. Huge museum and I am amazed by the Egyptian mummies and also saw the some Jades & intricate Ivory carvings.

The British Museum is bigger and better than it ever was- and I have been visiting since I was a small boy. The galleries are spacious and carefully laid out to make the visitor totally at ease. There is something for everyone to marvel at be they young or old. The displays assault your senses at every turn, a wondrous juxtaposition of colours and shapes from all corners of the globe. The Museum has adapted well to the demands of modernity - it is user friendly and offers excellent facilities to the visitor. A particularly novel touch is the employment of demonstrators who gently but thoroughly educate and inspire both young and old, The British Museum is a modern wonder, not just of London, but the world

Since last time we visit this great museum the courtyard has been covered with a glass roof . Now you reach each floor directly from the stairs in this courtyard. Here you can go for hours and even days to see all the different exhibitions.

You need your energy to visit. It’s massive. Lots to see. Not brilliant for very young kids. Nice cafe on 3rd floor. Free but they like contributing to the cost.

We specifically went to see the exhibition curated by Ian Hislop called "I Object" to fill-in some time before meeting friends in the evening. Whilst it is not the best exhibition we have ever been to, it does contain some interesting pieces and anecdotes that would otherwise lay hidden in the archives of the museum.
It does put a different slant on events of history and in some instances waves a couple of fingers at the establishments of the day.

The British Museum obviously has excellent exhibits such as the Rosetta Stone, The Easter Island Statue and The Flood Tablet and the way the collections are placed by region of the world is a great way to track down specific interests.
We really enjoyed the museum staff who explained the use and background of some items that they allowed to you handle; very informative and fun.
