What an amazing place! You can spend a couple of days here, and still not see everything. The highlight for most will be the Rosetta stone, but language alone cannot describe the other treasures you will find in the many rooms here.

One of the great museums in the world, with particularly strong collection from ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. Many famous pieces including the Rosette Stone and Elgin's (Parthenon) marble. The Norman Foster designed courtyard is is strikingly beautiful and gives the museum a wonderful light.

Took the granddaughters recently and I think they were impressed, I certainly was! So much to see, you need to visit more than once. And it's' free!!!

First time going and couldn't believe how big it was, stood for the first ten minutes in the glass roofed hall area because it's so beautiful! So many famous artefacts to see it's worth a few visits I think to appreciate it all, don't listen to those who say it's too busy, not any busier than the other museums or the streets of London for that matter!

Just returned from a visit to the British Museum, it is amazing. The free tours are well worth joining and are lead by well informed volunteers. Will definitely return.
