We arrived in London Thursday of Easter Long Weekend, so were not able to tour the Castle as the Queen was in residence. Also, no changing of the guards. However the grounds & the castle were magnificent!

We enjoyed the State Room tour (19 rooms included) by walking up to the ticket booth on the day. During busy season, advance purchase of admission is highly recommended and will provide a time to start the tour.

Headsets are provided after entering the tour in order to present background information along the tour route.

The state rooms are elegantly decorated as they are used for formal occasions hosted by the Queen. This Palace is home for the Queen and contains works art and furniture collected by royalty over 500 years. Over 1 million pieces of art are owned by the Queen!

Additional tours are available for the Mews, where royal carriages are kept, and the Gardens.

This is the third and last time I call on HM at Buckingham Palace. I was in a hotel just around the corner on Belgrave Road and thought that I'd drop by. There were hundreds at the gates and even though I gave my card, not good enough. It was Tea Time and she was busy - making sandwiches. A likely story!

Anyway, I never get tired of the area outside - The Mall, St. James's Park, the whole area is wonderful. I tend to view it as an important part of British Heritage.

There is so much hype about this palace AND..... it’s all warranted.
We are so lucky to have this living history available for us to experience.
Your personal views of the royal family is not what this is about.
The building is steeped in history. The building is beautifully maintained (though is constantly needing refurbishment) and each and every room speaks of events that shaped, and still shape, the world.
Many rooms we have seen on TV news etc - fascinating and exhilarating to experience in person.
The Picture Gallery of infamous and priceless paintings was breathtaking, such as Vermeer’s ‘The Music Lesson/Girl at the Virginal with a Gentleman’.
We have visited many continental palaces, and though many are impressive, none equal the majestic grandeur of this enduring home and office of Buckingham Palace.
We also went on the Garden Highlights Tour. This was a pleasant surprise, as the walk slowed you to see the palace from different vantage points.
Our guide was informative and entertaining, as seemed to be most of the enthusiastic team staff. Most interesting, though, was to see private areas you would not normally see, for example, the outside of the Queen’s private wing and the swimming pool.
Well organised (tours timed), cafe available under the pagodas, excellent (temporary) toilets, large gift shop. Only open about six weeks each year (whilst the Queen is in Balmoral), so very popular and needs advance booking.
This historic and beautiful monument is an absolute must.

Buckingham Palace was great to see. It was very neat to see a working palace in England. The Queen lives and works out of this palace and everything in it is priceless. The art work was fabulous and the furniture century’s old. My favorite part of the tour for me was the music room with spectacular views of the palace. The changing of the guard only happen once a week on Monday morning at 11am. Be early so you can see. We got to see the Thrown of many monarchs. Dating back centuries.
