Owner description: Buckingham Palace serves as both the office and London residence of Her Majesty The Queen. It is one of the few working royal palaces remaining in the world today. During a visit to Buckingham Palace, visitors can see the nineteen magnificent State Rooms, which provide the setting for ceremonial occasions and official entertaining. All rooms are furnished with many of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection. A visit also includes entry to the special exhibition, A Royal Welcome.

All the pomp and circumstance you could imagine was seen in this daily exercise seen in front of Buckingham Palace! It was a blustery day but I fully enjoyed witnessing this event. Highly recommended!

Walk down the famous Mall and come across
Buckingham Palace _ what better sight to see! We were there for the official announcement of the new Princess. A piece of history. Shame about the bossy crowd control people! Once seen, never forgotten.

I only saw the palace from the outside, as it is open for visits only two months a year (in 2015 from end of July till end of September). From the outside, it looks beautiful. Unfortunately, it is a very crowded area and it is almost impossible to see the changing of the guards.

Built in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham, the building was acquired by King George III in 1762 for use as a private residence. Since its construction has been expanded and remodeled several times.
During the two World Wars the palace survived an exemplary manner. In World War I was lucky not to be attacked, but during World War II, was bombed on several occasions. The most important bombing destroyed the royal chapel in 1940.
