Buckingham Palace is one of those places you have to see when you visit London, but if you want to see the changing of the guards ceremony, expect lots of crowds, and don't expect to see everything. We got there about 30 minutes before the ceremony began, and the sidewalks along the palace gates were already full. We got a spot along the road leading to the palace, so we got to see the guards marching in, but what happened behind the gates we couldn't see. It was cool to be there for it I guess, but if you don't get to see the changing of the guards, I wouldn't be too upset about it. I would recommend going at a less busy time when you can have a chance at getting closer to see the details of the palace.
