I can’t say enough about the tube. It’s very clean, easy to use once you get the hang of it, and almost always an employee around for any assistance. I wish we had this in the USA

The London Underground is the best way to travel around London, but you must avoid rush hours during the week. You must purchase an electronic Oyster card ( it is refundable ). It is the best way to get to various parts of the city and also to Heathrow airport ( but it is a long ride to the airport (.

Very easy to use “subway” service to whisk you around London and immediate environs. Make use of your contactless credit card to facilitate use of this service. Simply press card next to a marked yellow sign upon entry to access the station and do the same upon exiting. The system will then bill you based upon distances/zones travelled.

Travel maps are easy to read and signage within the underground provides easy directions to follow. Do not be concerned about getting around.

I've lived most of my life in and around London, so used the Underground a lot. What I love about it is that it is very easy to use (especially if you make use of the online tfl journey planner), quick, pricing is easy to understand, staff are mostly very helpful, and most of the time it feels very safe. Of course there are times when it's horribly crowded - avoid travelling at busy times if you can, and when there are delays or problems it can be very frustrating, although in central London you can often find an alternative route along a different Tube line. It's certainly a lot easier and less polluting than trying to drive into central London.
