“Refined and relaxed...”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

The food was first class and reasonably priced if you stick to the set menu. Slightly disappointed that this was presented when we first sat to eat. We had to request it. Good selection on the menu. The cheese course was divine and made all the better as it was served by a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic member of staff who also acted as sommelier. The wines were not cheap but of high quality. The service was extremely professional and the restaurant itself exuded an understated refinement.

“Wonderful food and great value (with the set menu....)”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

Absolutely couldn't fault the food, the service, the choices of wine by the glass, the amuse-bouche, even the cheese (which, for once, didn't lead to an extra charge on the set menu), and so on. But it would have been nice if the team greeting us at the front desk had smiled occasionally. Otherwise - really enjoyable.

“A very nice dining experience”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

We recently experienced a pleasurable dining experience in this restaurant.Upon arrival we were escorted upstairs for pre-meal drinks into a spacious, comfortable and very homely lounge with ornate architecture. We chose a glass of Albert Roux champagne, creamy, light and dry. A perfect start to the evening. We were served canapes consisting of horseradish cream beignets and pulled pork squares? Leisurely, we were then escorted back downstairs to the restaurant. If the restaurant is fully booked, it would fee a little cosy As it happens our experience was on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant wasn't too busy and in any case thought was given to where the diners present were seated. We were ideally seated next to the window. To start the meal we were served an amuse bouche which was a butternut squash veloute, we found this very refreshing. My wife's starter was scallop, pork cheek, black pudding, celeriac, apple and pork crackling. This was one of the best scallop starters she has experienced. My starter was charred Cornish Mackerel with beetroot salad and horseradish.Everything on the plate complimented each other well. For main course we were both served roast partridge with haggis, neaps, tatties, baby onions and a jus. At the table, the partridge was sprayed with a whisky. We have experienced better partridge but we are certainly not complaining. Coffee was served with petit fours, homemade jelly, chocolate and cherry sponges. Perfect finish to a very well accomplished meal which wasn't too extravagant. Although initially service was very busy at the table, this tapered out and we experienced unpretentious and unobtrusive service. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and intend to return ourselves. The service delivered by the Sommelier was superb who maintained an optimal measure of wine in our glasses throughout service and he was equally very knowledgeable in his field.

“Good but maybe not that good”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

Good food, well presented, very nice wine. But extremely expensive and somewhat clinical atmosphere. Quite a lot of reasonably famous people (politicians) in at lunch time.

“45th birthday treat”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

It was a last minute descision to book here but thoroughly enjoyed it! The set menu for £35 is incredible value. A favourite for MPs due to the proximity to Parliament but there was a variety of types of diners there that lunchtime. We sat next to a couple of ladies also enjoying a birthday treat. We both had the brown shrimp risotto followed by confit of duck. The white wine we had with is was very tasty and we also treated ourselves to a glass of desert wine which we don't usually do. We had the Medovik for desert which was so light it just melted in your mouth. Will definitely visit again. The food was amazing and the staff friendly and service very good. I can't rate this place highly enough. Wonderful! Thank you :)
