My partner and I visited this pub/restaurant today as I had purchased a voucher from LivingSocial which entitled us to a Sunday Roast for 2 plus a drink each for £15. We know the area where the pub is located so knew it was not going to be in a plush area or surroundings and we were proved to be right!
On entering the pub two things hit me, the overpowering smell of joss sticks and that, apart from us the pub was virtually empty! The whole place seemed rather sad and down at heel and was generally lacking in atmosphere. The barmaid that took our order was friendly enough and efficient when taking our orders, bringing us our drinks etc but we had to wait AGES for our food, weird given the fact that there were only 3 tables we're occupied and eating! I ordered the roast lamb and my partner ordered the beef and when the food finally did arrive, we certainly could not complain about the quantities !! There was loads of meat, roast new potatoes and veg on our plates as well as gravy and Yorkshire pudding, condiments such as horseradish and mint sauce were also all available. Whilst the plates on which the food was delivered were very hot, sadly the food itself was not, in particular the vegetables. In fact, if the food was any colder we certainly would have sent it back ! Due to the lack of atmosphere, plus the fact that the only desert on offer seemed to be chocolate fudge cake and ice cream, we decided not have any more drinks or a dessert and left shortly after eating. All in all, our lunch was OK but I certainly would not make a return trip on another occasion or recommend it to others particularly.
