Description: Having earned a star within a year of opening Gauthier Soho, Alexis Gauthier is described by Zagat guide as "...one of the Best New French food destinations in London...". With an emphasis on vegetables in all dishes, Alexis provides a seasonal tasting menu with the best possible ingredients (British where possible) for omnivores and a vegetable option, as well as an A la Carte and lunch/pre-theatre option. All served in a chic Soho Townhouse where the staff really make you feel special. There are also five private dining rooms for parties of all sizes.

We had lunch here yesterday and really loved it. We had the reduced lunchtime tasting menu which was great value including amuse Boucher, 5 courses and a glass of champagne for £40! The food was all excellent. We loved every course. All were small but it came together as the perfect quantity to enjoy and feel statisfied but not be overly stuffed by the end.
Started with a fabulous dish of cooked foie gras with asparagus and truffle, followed by a beautifully cooked scallop. Then halibut followed by lamb and the most awesome warm chocolate tart to finish. Every course was so tasty we were scraping our plates every time!
We asked the sommelier to pair some wines by the glass and all were well matched and generous portions. Including the service the bill was still less than £150 including 7 glasses of wine between us!
Excellent value for the quality of the food. I will be back!

My husband and I had a lovely date night at Gauthier Soho. The meal was exceptional. Delicious and what was really nice about it was the meal felt almost 'healthy'. We had four courses and I didn't feel completely stuffed like have after dining at other French restaurants where the food tends to be quite heavy. We will definitely be going back.

We had a lovely dinner on a Wednesday night. The staff was most attentive and the amuse bouche courses were a nice touch. The wine recommendations were spot on. The halibut and scallop appetizers were artful and perfectly cooked. The duck and lamb entrees were both melt-in-your-mouth delicious!

Lovely setting, good and friendly service and we enjoyed our private room, but the food was a little disappointing. Why? Really because it wasn't very exciting. Normally for (largely) well executed food that wouldn't matter too much, but given these prices, I expect more. Plus my halibut was overcooked, but I may have just been unlucky.

Gauthier restaurant in Romilly Street, Soho is indeed a hidden gem....you could walk past it quite easily but when you do stop and go in, what a pleasure awaits! The deluxe set lunch menu is outstanding value and quality and a few extra little touches make every visit an occasion. We have been there 3 times now and are looking forward to our next visit, next time in a group of 6. The foos, service and Mbience are equally outstanding. Try it...I would be surprised if you are disappointed.
