“Great Weekend Stay”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Stayed from 17th Aug till 19th Aug. My wife and I found this Travelodge to be ideal for our weekend break. All in all very clean and very comfortable. The room had all that we needed. The floor fan was a welcome addition. We were on the 2nd Floor and when we do return and we will we might ask for a room on a higher level. We could hear lots of chat by we think the smokers outside the entrance. The breakfast was good value for money. As I said we will be back again. One last thing a great location and only a 5 minute walk from Waterloo station. Thanks Steve & Karen Jones

Easily accessible via 4 minute walk from Waterloo train station, with access to 3 main tube lines. Sainsburys local facing the station and ample pubs along the way. two minutes from the Old Vic Theatre. Walk 20 minutes over waterloo bridge to the strand and 15 minutes to get to westminster bridge. We walked from here to the west end (via the strand) and home via Buckingham Palace, a good long walk but saw many attractions on the way. Staff friendly, room spotless - excellently placed, would definitely stay again.

We were forced to stay here as our original hotel (Days Inn) overbooked so stuck us in here. We had paid for a room with air conditioning and wifi. We got a hotel that has no air conditioned rooms at all and I could have wifi if I paid £10 for 24 hours.... Which I refused!

The room was very basic, no draws, cupboards or wardrobes for clothes. It was not a hot night yet the room was blisteringly hot, unbearable and impossible to sleep in. I tried getting up and having a cool shower but the shower drain was blocked so I'd have flooded the bathroom if I had gone ahead.

I was told I could have a 50% off voucher for my next stay .... Well if hell freezes over it might be nice to get warm but otherwise forget it!

Our Travelodge on Waterloo Road was central to our holiday needs. The hotel has just a few rooms on the main road and, unfortunately, we were allocated one of these. Although the room had efficient double glazing the traffic noise was still intrusive.
The room was spotlessly clean but we found it to be on the small side and one of our criticisms of Travelodge is that only one chair is provided for a double room. The bathroom was also on the small side and storage was woefully lacking. One shelf for two people for a three night stay is simply not enough!
The website does not appear to offer the opportunity of booking a twin (rather than a double) room. I discovered, when checking in, that this hotel does have twin rooms but these had all been allocated,

Stayed as family for 3 nights in August 2013. One of the nicest Travelodges i have stayed in. Think it has been refurbished recently as room was spotless. Only bugbear was the lack of storage space for clothes. We were a family of four. About 6 hangers were provided and one really high shelf, not ideal for clothes for 4 people for 3/4 days. Rooms however much bigger than any other Travelodge i have ever stayed in. We opted for breakfast, as at about £7 per adult plus kids eat free, it worked out as £3.50 for breakfast, which was good value. The usual buffet breakfast applied with hot options of sausage (delicious), bacon, scrambled egg, tomato and beans. Staff very helpful, my fussy daughter likes her croissants warm, they did this with a smile on their face, even though it was very busy. We didn't use the bar, but the food seemed very reasonably priced for London. Waterloo tube station was a 10 min walk away, and about a 20 min walk over waterloo bridge got you into the strand area of London. Bonus - we could see the London Eye and St Pauls from our room.
Very good standard travelodge, far better than i expected

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have views of London Eye and St Pauls, but also builders and cranes, lot of work g...

Organisers of a business conference placed me at the Waterloo Road Travelodge. The weather was extremely humid and I found that a bit unsettling. There was a large fan available to plug-in in the room but my experience with such in the past is that to do so only circulates the muggy hot air and a window open is a better air conditioning where no electronic existed. My conference colleagues and neighbours each were over warm and had to go out for walks during the night. That said, the rooms were clean and modestly but acceptable size with good bed.The other services refreshments and lifts were acceptably good and all the staff I met were very efficient and friendly. As a location for two busy days of day long conferencing elsewhere in Central London, this Travelodge was a very acceptable base for its price.

Room Tip: Clarify at Check-in on range and costs of breakfast in room and room services as these are not clear...

Large, modern building but in urban setting so don't expect scenic views.
Large bedroom but small bathroom, both very clean. Very comfortable bed and good, quiet night's sleep.
Reception seemed to be unmanned most of the day, but friendly check-in.
Generally much improved stay on previous Travelodge visits (at Aldgate East and Farringdon which were both very disappointing).
