“Great find, very central, very comfortable.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2014

We have stayed in many London Hotels/apartments whilst attending events in town, this was our first stay at Cheval Calico House, and we were not dissappointed. The concierge was excellant very professional and check in was fast and easy. Room was quite spacious with a seating area and small kitchen, and the bathroom shower was excellant. The only small critisim was the room felt very hot upon our arrival with no air conditioning, and the heating thermostat set fairly high. Luckily we where out for the evening, so turned the dial to zero , and upon our return made use of the large electric fan to cool the room further. This is only a small critisim as I know you will never please everyone with regard to an acceptable temperature for the room, and it would definitely not defer us from staying here again. The room was very clean, and had everything you could want.
We booked through secret escapes so got a very good price for the room, for city of London prices.

Room Tip: The rooms are in different blocks around Bow Lane, I would ask for a room in the block behind Cards...

Once you have experienced Cheval Calico House you will not want to stay anywhere else in London. Cheval Calico House provides affordable luxury in a location close to many of the major London tourist attractions. It is in close proximity to several underground stations and the area abounds with restaurants and shops.

My wife and I stayed in a non-smoking deluxe two bedroom apartment with another couple with whom we were travelling. The apartment was spacious and well appointed. Comfort and quality are words that describe every room in the apartment. Each night we were able to relax together in the lounge / dining area of the apartment and discuss the days events then retire to the privacy of our bedrooms. Each bedroom in our apartment had its own bathroom. Staying in an apartment allowed us to wash/dry our clothes at our convenience and prepare our own meals if we so desired.

The cost of the apartment was more than comparable with that of London hotels we had stayed at in the past. These hotels did not provide the same level of appointments as Cheval Calico House nor the benefits of staying in an apartment.

We found the booking process from Australia hassle free with the administration staff most helpful. The gentlemen who managed the 24 hour reception desk also provided exemplary service. We were expecting a weekly linen service but were provided with fresh towels every day. Upon arrival we received a welcome baskets containing quality food items. That was a really nice touch.

Please be aware that Cheval Calico House has minimum stay requirements which we believe is to be extended. If this proves to be a barrier, Cheval has other apartments in London which would be well would investigating.

In summary, we would thoroughly recommend Cheval Calico House to anyone planning a trip to London.

Room Tip: We chose to stay in a non-smoking Deluxe two bedroom apartment which had a balcony overlooking Bow L...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us at Cheval Calico House.

The team at Calico House will be delighted to read these comments and that you had an enjoyable stay.

In terms of the minimum stay requirements for Calico this has been increased, however, we now have Cheval Three Quays which is located by the Tower of London which has stays from one night. I'm confident that you will find this a fantastic alternative.

I do hope that we have the opportunity of welcoming you back to Cheval in the not too distant future.

We chose Cheval Calico House initially because we wanted two bedrooms and a kitchen. We were happy to be right in the City of London so close to St. Paul's Cathedral. Three underground stations are within walking distance, so very convenient for vacation in London.

Upon our initial contact we were told that the amenities didn't include either free internet nor coffee maker, however, we were surprised to find internet was free after all and they had put a French press and ground coffee in our welcome hamper. That was a pleasant surprise.

The only negative is that there are a lot of pubs in the area and they are loud and busy until late at night and you can also hear delivery trucks come by in the very early morning. So getting to sleep while being jet lagged can be a bit of a task.

I would happily stay there again.

Calico House is perfectly located next to St Paul's Cathedral, very close to the Thames River and right in the centre of the City of London for ease of exploration of this fascinating historical part of the city. Its location on Bow Lane is fascinating, having within the immediate vicinity wonderful old pubs, first class restaurants, a modern shopping centre, ancient churches, two small supermarkets, and a plethora of other places of interest. The staff were excellent, very welcoming and extremely pleasant and helpful. The apartments are almost new, and very comfortable and stylish with everything one needs for a short or long stay, including a washer/dryer, full kitchen, comfortable living area and comfortable beds. We felt at home immediately and loved being able to walk out each day and be so close to everything London has to offer and to the Underground and buses. We can't wait to return sometime soon. It was wonderful to be able to walk down to the Thames at any hour of the day and see it in different lights, and be able to walk across the Millenium Bridge or Southwark Bridge to Bankside and explore all along the banks of the river. Calico House is a perfect place for a holiday or business trip.

Room Tip: We had two different rooms at different times. One was on the third floor facing Watling Street an...

Calico House is just behind St Pauls Cathedral right beside the Mansion House Tube Station with numerous buses going right by. There is a new shopping centre right next door and many supermarkets within close distance. The apartments are extremely well situated with all the amenities you could possibly need. The staff are very friendly. Because it is based in the business district it is extremely quiet at night.

Room Tip: There are many different sized apartments and I'm sure there's one to suit all needs. We...

We rented a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment and were very impressed. It was spotless and practically brand new. The oven had not been used we were able to cook full meals with everything included in the kitchen to cook with. The washer/dryer was handy to have. The rooms were made up daily and were left clean and tidy, with fresh linen and towels. The welcome basket was a n excellent touch with everything from a loaf of bread, jams, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, cereal, juice milk butter etc this was perfect as we had only just arrived and had nothing at all to eat or drink.
The concierge was helpful and fiery friendly. There were 3 of us so we felt the price was well worth it for such a lovely apartment in a great part of town.

we rented a very spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit. It had a separate living room and a fully equipped kitchen (including a washer/dryer). The units are not cheap (and be aware the quoted price does not include the VAT) but it's rare to find so much space. The rooms were recently redone and very comfortable. The hotel is less than 5 min from the Mansion House tube and very close to St Paul's. It is in the City area, so it's very quiet on the weekends.
