I went here for a business lunch. There is a nice atmosphere and the service was good. However, there was a very poor vegetarian choice.

Very enjoyable English lunch washed down with lovely smooth red wine. Steak and Kidney pie, liver and bacon. Tucked away in the City, bustling and full of City folk having long, leisurely and lively lunches. A lovely find, thanks to #hairygoat.

Had our Horsham Hanagan's reading group Christmas bash here because of the Dickens connection. One of our members works in the city and knew of it and as we had read The Pickwick Papers early in 2012 it seemed apposite. Noisy and old fashioned serving English food with pride. Special dietry needs are not catered for here, its a meat and two veg sort of place with a choice of 2 wines, red or white apparently decanted into bottles lined up with their corks already loosened. Worth a visit for the ambience, it really takes you back to the mid 19th century, we had a great time.

I've always had great food here. Straightforward menu, unfussy food cooked very well and served with a flourish. George is most welcoming and all the staff really know their business. It is a bit noisy and always crowded, but the food is worth it. The house wine comes in 'red' or 'white' and is excellent.
Much better and less pretentious than other chop houses and not to be confused with anywhere else. This is the George & Vulture in Castle Court, just off Cornhill behind St Michael's Church.

I've been tasked to find a venue for our christmas party of every week, I'm going to be trying out a new venue/pub/restaurant. Today was the George & Vulture.

Long history of the Dickens flavour with some spice of Hell-Fire club, its a nice place. The menu is quite meat-centric and the wine options are few but service is good and friendly and it's the history that matters really. It's dark and perfect to fuel the lunch time drinks, time passes quickly and all in all, a nice spot. Hidden away in the alleys just out of Bank station, it makes for a cute little rendezvous spot.
