Judd Hotel
Ranked #235 of 571 London B&B and Inns
Reviewed November 11, 2011

The Judd Hotel is on Cartwright Gardens which is a nice Georgian crescent lined with hotels. I have stayed in just about all of them. The Judd Hotel has been recently renovated and is very clean and has all the necessary amenities. The double room I was in was quite small - two people would be hard pressed to walk around in it at the same time - but it was comfortable and relatively quiet. My room was on the ground floor with a window looking out on a small, concrete yard with a glassed in floor which was actually the skylight of the breakfast room. A higher room would probably have a nicer view, but I can't complain about the room itself and the price was reasonabe, if not cheap, but then nothing decent in London is! I would certainly return to the Judd again.

A comfortable clean well maintained and managed small hotel within easy reach of Euston/ St Pancras/ Kings Cross and bus and tube routes (7 mins walk to Euston Mainline station and 4 mins to bus and tubes). Location is on a quiet square away from the traffic noise. Stayed two nights in a twin room on the upper 3rd floor. Lovely well decorated clean room, comfy beds, WiFi worked well. Rooms are small as to be expected in London but adequate. Excellent cooked breakfast and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Good value for money in London and we'll be returning.

Room Tip: No lift in the hotel. Rooms on the third floor have access via a narrow steep staircase - a bit tric...

My friend and I stayed here with our grandchildren for two nights during half term. We each had a triple room which, whilst not being large, the space was certainly adequate. After all, who goes to London to sit in a hotel room? I have stayed in London many times on business and in my experience, hotel accommodation does tend to be smaller. The bedroom and shower room were both very clean and well decorated and the beds comfortable. What more do you need for a couple of nights in London? The staff we encountered were, without exception, helpful and courteous. The staff in the breakfast room couldn't do enough to help and were very patient with the four children. The hotel is in a convenient area, close enough to Kings Cross to walk but far enough away to not feel intimidating at night. I would definitely stay here again.

As most other reviewers say, the location is great. Russell Square tube stop on Picadilly line runs directly from Heathrow, and is an easy three block walk.
The Judd's location on a short, quiet street, is calm and peaceful. Very good nearby restaurants feature North Sea fish, Italian food, and true gastropub fare. More good restaurants are also within walking distance.
The British Museum, the British Library, and several leafy squares are in easy walking range.
Hotel literature says it was renovated in 2010. The rooms and public spaces are still fresh and tastefully decorated. My en suite bathroom sparkled.
The breakfast buffet offered all I could eat of meat, eggs, cold cereal, milk, juice, coffee, yogurt, and toast.
I enjoyed my week at the Judd.

The downside was the size of my double room. Because there was no room for a chair to sit on, guests have had to sit on the edge of the bed. Consequently, the only accessible side of the queen bed was broken down. To read and write, I had to sit on or in the bed, but the light was marginal. To sleep, I moved the pillows to the far side and slept in the middle, which was comfortably firm and unbroken; but if my wife had been with me, we would have had problems accessing the side away from the bathroom and being comfortable on the near side.

However, I travel light, and with strategic organization, I had room to hang my clothes and keep my suitcase out of the way. I would gladly stay again if I were alone—unlikely—but with my wife, slim though she is, I'd have to find a place with a larger room.

The room is very small, but you expect this in London. It still included tea and coffee making facilities, a TV and a well equipped bathroom. Nice view over the tennis courts in the park across the road, very comfortable bed. Good location, very close to Kings Cross and Russell Square tube stations. Would stay there again, good value for London.

We stayed at the Judd Hotel this past month while in London and want to recommend it as a Great place to stay. It is located within 8 minutes walk to either the Euston subway stop of St Pancras (Eurostar stain) /Kings Cross station. Very clean and nicely decorated, staff was very helpful in getting us tickets for hop on hop off buses, directing us to shopping, storing luggage and identifying places to eat. The hotel is located within a block of Euston Avenue, main street yet it is on a peaceful residential street across from a park with numerous pubs available around each corner. The rooms are very compact but when one is in London one should only be in rooms to sleep and this hotel has good quality mattresses that will give you a good night's sleep. If you don't like stairs request a room one floor up or one floor down. Breakfast was just fine, eggs, sausage, yoghurt toast and nice service.

i was a little wary about this hotel with the mixed reviews but booked it anyway for the nice quiet location. got a basement room which was small but that did not bother me as i was traveling on my own and was only sleeping there. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was very nice and even though a buffet breakfast it was still very fresh. The hotel was very clean throughout, the room itsself was clean but had stains on the walls which was the only thing that bothered me and the bathroom spotless!
