If you ever wonder about how the El Bulli of Ferran Adria was, you must visit Vijante to have an idea. It is a good place to taste examples from Modern Cousine or Molecular Gastronomy. We went for 9 course menu and end up tasting 18 different type of food and many different tastes. It is good to quess what is coming next knowing that it will be good, and even perfect. Wine list is indeed good, it is one of the few places one can find a good quality Albarino wine at a reasonable price. I am particularly impressed with fish dishes, perfectly well cooked a punto and served with accompaniying sauces and garnitures. The lack of a good salad at some point must be mentioned, but, no doubt any foodie or gourmet food lover will like this restaurant. Desserts, particularly the milky one, were perfect. Service is good and friendly as well. The interior design both the bar and the restaurant is good indeed. Considering generosity and the quality of the food, I must add, the restaurant is reasonably priced. (6 course menu 70, 9 course menu is 85 GBP) Actually is cheaper than equivalent restaurants in Paris or New York.

We had the 6 course vegetarian lunch. Everything was really brilliant and I can't wait to go back. I really liked the blind menu - not knowing what was coming next really added to the fun.

The smoked butter had me drooling. The cucumber with milk ice was ice cream heaven.

Staff were really nice - and we were shown round the listed building after lunch.

An all round awesome meal.

we had dinner upstairs a few weeks back at the smaller restaurant in this old 'town hall'...and we loved that well enough....and always said we would return there!

but then we read all that was said about Viajante (the main downstairs restaurant) on here....and so just had to book a table.

everything was fantastic...from the pre drink in the bar with locally sourced beers all the way down to the farewell chat with roxanne.

the 'blind' menu was inspirational and opting for the wine with each course made it all the better.....don't expect large portions (as i'm sure some would complain)...but then as everything you get tastes so good you just don't worry about it.

we only had the 6 courses (with 4 appetizers!!) but will return to take on the 9...maybe even the 12!

and once again... a special thank you to 'all' the staff for making everything a great food experience...keep up the good work

Dining at Vijante is an amazing experience as a whole. The bar, very well attended by Erika from Italy. We had a 6 blind course dinner; a voyage through perception and senses. The combination of different sorts of foods, spices, sweet, salty, bitter....amazing. The ambiance, the service, but most specially the food was great. We did not take the pairing wine menu, instead we had an spectacular Champagne Rose; H. Billiot Fills. Strong recommendation.
