“Dinner for two”

We went there on a Sunday evening thinking it would be quiet but still have a good atmosphere however, it was noisey, the table next to us was 5 inches away from our table, we felt very uncomfortable and was not allowed to move.

The price of the food was too expensive for what we got. We ordered a roast each and a glass of wine and it added up to £62.70! I know it is London..but that is far to expensive for what we got and for a pub meal!

“Delightful”

On a cold Sunday night in London, I can think of nothing better than a proper roast in a comfortable setting. The staff was extremely pleasant and the food warmed the soul.

“Pleasant”

Booked a table in the restaurant for 12 o'clock for 3 people at lunchtime. Greeting was Luke warm, but swift. Coffee was served minus sugar etc, didn't ask for any, but shouldn't have to. Food was good. We had rarebit and fish cake for starter, and one fish pie and haddock and chips for main. Food was cooked fresh, was piping hot, and flavoursome. We had to get our wine from the cooler before we left to finish it off, as was not served it regularly throughout the meal. It was very cold when we got there and the heating wasn't on, when I mentioned how cold it was, it fell on deaf ears, so, I just turned the valve on the rad, and it came on, lovely and warm, Imdid turn it off again before we left by the way. Good atmosphere and not a free table in the house by the time we left, so clearly popular with the locals... Would recommend, nice place for the area, good food, but service and temperature of the room need attention. Also, tip added automatically at 10%, which I don't agree with, this should be up to the customers discretion.

“Fabulous Service etc etc ....”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

A last minute decision to eat here, was accomodated without any fuss and on a busy Friday night. Food was excellent, great atmosphere..... you move from the hustle and bustle of a city pub downstairs to a calm and relaxing setting upstairs in the dining room. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. If you are in London definately worth a visit... but take the address/post code as our taxi driver wasn't sure of its location

“Fabulous food”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

My friend and I chose to eat at the Princess of Shoreditch while we had a weekend away in London. We ate in the dining room which was cosy and quaint. We loved the setting with mismatched wooden chairs and vintage styling. The staff were attentive and very pleasant. The food...well it was absolutely beautiful. We had the pork belly, braised pork cheek, black pudding croquette and crackling. Each of the elements on the plate were cooked to perfection - the pork belly was tasty and not overly fatty, the pork cheek was so tender, the croquette had a lovely flavour with crispy coating and the crackling wasn't greasy at all and perfectly crunchy. Also the fennel puree was smooth and added an extra flavour. We shared a crème brulee for dessert and both enjoyed, the shortbread accompaniment just melted in your mouth. My only complaint is that we live so far away and are unable to return weekly! Thank you to the chef and waiting staff for a enjoyable evening.
