The Summerhouse is a very nice restaurant in on the canal, with beautiful views of ducks swimming, flying and boats passing by. The waterside tables are really great for a romantic dinner. Staff is very attentive, from the reservation on the phone to the end of the dinner, and the atmosphere at the restaurant is very nice and unpretentious. Unfortunately, the food is not great as all the rest in this restaurant. We ordered the seafood plate to share as a starter, but the calamari were cold, as it have been fried for a while, the 'king prawns' looked more 'prince' than king, and the popcorn shrimp were not crispy as they should be. For the mains, I ordered fish cake, what was ok, but nothing special. My partner ordered swordfish and that was not good at all(I have tasted as well). To finish (badly), I ordered chocolate mousse that seemed more a mousse from supermarket than from a restaurant. We were wondered if the food was poor because of the bank holiday and the chef was away, or if the food is always like that. Anyway, we had a great evening there and decided that we will have another goal at The Summerhouse. This restaurant is a such nice place that we really would love to enjoy the food as well.
