Description: Set inside London's most exclusive eco-friendly hotel, Rafael on the Left Bank, Banyan on the Thames is a chic restaurant overlooking the river and the London Helipad in Battersea. With so much action right outside its sound-proofed windows, this is a fantastic place to watch the world go by. And super-tanned sun-lovers adore the riverside roof terrace for summertime dining. The Hotel Rafayel is popular with an international, glamorous yet ecologically-sensitive set of travellers, and the Banyan on Thames is open to serve them and you - breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is a melange of European, Asian and Mediterranean flavours, fusion cuisine at its finest. Favourite dishes here include the duck confit in a ginger and lime sweet and sour sauce; the mango and papaya salad with curry chicken; and the Barcelona traditional fish soup. Banyan on the Thames makes the most of the peace and tranquillity of its ideal riverside location.

We were staying next door and the location was great, for starters. But, when we looked at the menu, we were a little disconcerted at the combination of choices (Indian, Asian, European, Traditional) and although we loved the 50% it did initially scream - desparate! However, the staff were very friendly (however a uniform that is ironed/well fitted would appear more professional, as would a co-ordinated decor). The food was the biggest surprise! The discount was not reflected in the quality or taste of the meal, we came back 3 times!! The steaks where excellent and the desserts to die for! just a little tweeking and this place will be great!

Food was good, 50% discounted proved excellent VFM.
Service good, dining table small and undressed for 5* hotel.

We dined here on a Saturday night and had a lovely view of the river, this place is a bit of a hidden gem as it was fairly quiet. We had 50% off the food which made it good value (it would be overpriced without this) and the food was generally excellent - the rib eye steak was huge (more like a t bone) and cooked rare as I had asked. The tikka mixed grill starter was huge and more like a large main course than a starter. The service was excellent and the restaurant had a really nice vibe. The bar area looked like a good place to return for a drink. Only marked it down to 4 stars as the food would be expensive if they were not offering 50% off.

Had dinner here since we were hungry from the Eurostar trip from Paris. Well I'm so annoyed that we went there as the food was very basic and below average and we were pretty much ignored. There was a large table in there that seemed to be getting the royal treatment from all the staff but they did not take care of us at all. What a shame!

Three of us were present as part of anniversary celebrations. The booking process was very good via lastminute.com and we were welcomed warmly and seated promptly upon arrival at 7pm. Our table had a very good view of the Thames. However we were seated by a large and extremely noisey party and we could see that neighbouring diners were also negatively affected as were ourselves. The pre-dinner cocktails ranged from average to good. Our three starters, all different, were all good. However we consider all the main courses were poor and in two cases at least half the food was uneaten.Of note was the side dish of vegetable presented with masses of sea salt. The service was between average and good. We left without taking dessert because of the oppressive noise level around us. Even with the last minute.com advertised 50% off food we consider this restaurant poor value for money because of the poor main dishes and the very noisey environment.
