Came here last week for a birthday dinner and the outdoor seating was lovely. The ambience was welcoming and relaxing and the staff were very attentive. The fried mozzarella and tomato sauce starter was lovely and the pasta dishes were simple but tasty. The non pasta dishes (ie. the meat and seafood mains) were a little on the small side, so a starter and a side dish would be necessary with those (I'd recommend the courgette tempura). They had a vast array of desserts and apparently they sometimes have delicious cannolis.

Our meal at La Famiglia was as good as it gets for simple, authentic Italian: fresh, delicious and attractive on the plate. The service was outstanding, too, from a small cohort of experienced European waiters: a friendly greeting, a comfortable table on the preferred ground floor and prompt delivery of breads and drinks before ordering. My wife started with bruschetta, which she said was perfect, the bread brushed with olive oil and garlic before being overlaid with freshly chopped tomato. I chose Parma ham with fresh, quartered figs that were soft and sweet, at the peak of their maturity. Our main courses were swordfish, perfectly cooked on a bed of zucchini, and for me two wonderfully tender pieces of fegato burro e salvia, the butter sauce slightly salted and fresh sage leaves decorating the liver; I ordered plain spinach and deep-fried zucchini to accompany it, and each came fresh and hot, with simple delicate flavours. While my wife sipped an excellent expresso, I was tempted by the dessert trolley. These are rarely seen nowadays, but at La Famiglia it had a cornucopia of wonderful cakes, tarts and fruits. I chose torta della nonna. This was the real thing, brought in from an Italian bakery: short pastry that crumbled in the mouth, a bed of sweet custard and a topping of crunchy pine nuts. What a pleasure to dine in a restaurant where everything exceeded our expectations! With two glasses of good Montepulciano, a bottle of still water and a cover charge of £1.85 per head, the bill came to £96 before service, and £110 after a well deserved 155 gratuity. Highly recommended; we will return.

Been here several times and it never disappoints. The staff made a real fuss of us and even invited us to meet the Chef who had been there since it first opened in 1966. The food is not over fussy but just fresh, well presented and very tasty.

Attractive looking restaurant with excellent and friendly staff. The service was good, and we all enjoyed our starters but the main courses were disappointing. One plate had only four mussels on it, and the carbonara was really unexceptional.

This is a well-known restaurant, apparently, but we found it did not quite live up to its reputation and, because of that, we found it overpriced. The cover charge was not a popular item on the bill either. We have only ever come across this in Italy and were surprised to see it cropping up in London.albeit in an Italian restaurant.

The place is very well-known in Chelsea. The food is good with friendly staff. We were sitting in the covered garden area, but I preferred sitting inside.
