I was expecting a grim, standard room above a pub and I was delighted to stay in a really beautiful, cozy room. Super clean and well-decorated, large bed and friendly staff (though I struggled a little bit on arrival and departure to find someone to check-in/check-out)

I stayed at the William iv in October 2010 during the week and my review was glowing. I did voice concerns over the fact that it could be 'noisy' if you stayed over the weekend......

I stayed at William iv on Friday 10 December for one night, again this was for a trip to London as we were going to watch a TV show being filmed at BBC TV Centre.

This time we got put in the smallest room they had and still got charged £100. The room was small but adequate, clean, newly decorated all as when we stayed previously however, there was a party going on in the pub downstairs. We did not get notified of this when we booked or when we checked in.

We arrived back around 10:30pm it took ages to check in due to how busy the bar was. As per my previous review, there REALLY should be a seperate area for guests checking in to the rooms. We were kept awake until gone 2am by the 'party' going on, the music was thumping so loudly the bed may as well have been in the bar!

Such a shame as my previous stay was lovely, this has really put me off the place. I will certainly think twice for future visits to London about staying here.

A reduction in rates or at least a notification of how noisy it was going to be would have been curtious - I woke up feeling like I hadn't slept which then ruined my day in London!!

BEWARE when booking as I am not exaggerating about the noise in anyway at all!!

We stayed on a Sunday one week and then a Mon & Tues later in the month. I was concerned that the pub noise would be a problem but the rooms were 2 floors above the bar and couldn't here anything which surprised me. However, on the last night after midnight some people having a smoke outside disturbed us for a while, not a big problem but in summer with people outside all evening then it may be a real issue.
Breakfast was very good and is cooked to order, breakfast staff member was excellent. Other staff were all very friendly and helpful, we checked in during the lunch rush and didn't have too long to wait to be checked in. Room is very good, spacious. Not so good: Shower pressure was low but shower was hot. No place to put toiletries in bathroom, a small sink. A few minor drawbacks then but very stylish and bed was comfortable. It doesn't have a big chain, slick feel which is appreciated. Good transport links esp. No.18 bus (stop is 2 mins from hotel), going past paddington (Little Venice stop) and on to euston. Going to Heathrow directly from hotel was easy, had to trundle the cases through an underpass and along a few roads (10 mins, you'll need a map) but no worse than having to carry big cases up and down stairs when going by tube between more centrally located hotels.

Although the location wasn't the best it wasn't the worst either. We visited to go see a show in the West End and was told about this hotel from friends as a perfect place to stay.
Rooms was clean with perfect amenities and offered everything we required for our stay.
Would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Thankful we had not read the previous reviews when we booked are weekend stay or we would have missed out of a gem of a guest house. We checked in on a busy Friday night. The staff were fantastically friendly. Our room was very tastefully furnished and I was not expecting a four poster bed! We enjoyed a buzzy evening in the bar. Saturday was a slow start and we spent most of it hanging around Notting Hill which are on the door step. There are loads of great shops and restrauants nearby. I am certainly going back. It was a great, fun, relaxing weekend. Ps. The Sunday Roast also comes very highly recommended.
