“Lovely hotel with interesting view of Battersea Power Station!”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

This was a very nice, plush hotel in a good location. The room was large and very modern, as was the bathroom. The spa, restaurant and bar were also very nice and we had a very nice included in the price evening meal. Our hotel room was directly overlooking Battersea Power Station which was different! The only downside is the walk from Sloane Square tube as on the day we went it was particularly cold!
Unfortunately got up too late to sample the breakfast, but I am sure it was very nice.

If I wanted to look really hard, I could say that the gym room is tiny and would be absolutely crowded with more than four people in it. However, I had it to myself when I used it so that potential rant went out the window. Did not try the pool or spa so cannot report on them. Internet access is only free on the ground floor, which does seem a little cheap for a four star hotel, but we adapted quite cheerfully. Now for the good. We were lucky enough to get a very good rate through an online booking company but as the word of this gem gets out the deals may begin to dry up. However, for us the value was excellent. The hotel is modern, with very spacious rooms. The very comfortable "king-sized" bed appeared to be two doubles squeezed together (maybe that is standard for kings in England?); but the box spring must have been genuine because the top mattresses did not move apart in the least and in fact it was only on the third night that I even noticed the seam between them. The room was large enough to have a leather couch in the window, sufficiently comfortable that my wife actually slept on it one night, and still have enough floor space that you could move around comfortably in it without worrying that a slight wobble would have you bumping into something or other. Bathroom a good size with both a tub and a shower. The breakfast buffet had a good choice of hot and cold and the staff were very attentive. I do not believe I have ever eaten in a hotel restaurant which had such a large complement of staff to attend to peoples needs. Ate one dinner meal in the restaurant, which was very good, and several in the lobby bar, which offered a restricted but still good menu. The bar TVs were run with the sound low or off entirely so as not to be too intrusive. The bar staff was very attentive and personable as was the front desk staff on the few times we needed to interact with them.
Ah, but now for the location which seems to have caused some guests an issue. If you are in London on business and said business depends on being in the City during the day or even further east in Canary Wharf then, no, you probably would not want to stay here. Yes, the underground is a fifteen to twenty minute walk away, although the nearest bus stop is only three to four. Routes 137 and 452 take you to one tube station while the 44 takes you to another, one stop closer to downtown. We never had to wait more than three minutes for one or another of the three to arrive. If you want to gawk at what the super-rich (who would be staying in five star hotels anyway and taking limousines to the stores) buy, think of any (very) high end retailer and there is at least a 50% chance the 137 will take you to within two blocks of one of its stores without the need to transfer. Harrod's for one is worth the visit simply as a tourist attraction, if not as an actual shopping destination. A small convenience store is in the complex just beside the hotel as well for any more reasonably-priced consumable shopping needs. For those who would consider cycling as a transport option, there is a Barclay's cycle hire post about a five minute walk from the hotel. The good aspects of the location is that Battersea Park's 200 or so acres of gardens, running trails, children's zoo and playground, paddleboat rentals and who knows what all else is just across the road. And the hotel is not very far from the Thames River itself. We shall certainly stay here again the next time we are in London.

Room Tip: Ask for a Queenstown Road view. You don't see the Eye but then again neither do you see the long...

This hotel was an excellent choice, and a bargain since it was newly opened. High standard rooms, staff and bar/social room - and an excellent pool area in the basement, with sauna and steam room.

Rooms are large (far above London average), climate controlled with large, comfortable and soft beds, adjustable lighting and bath robes. In room is also small tea/coffee making area, and easy operated safety box. Room service is excellent and responsive, and prices in bar are very fair compared to other european bar prices.

Room standard and cleaning was great all over (including bathroom) All over the hotel, staff was polite and swift with a smile. Even the night where computers were down, and a clear stressed out staff in the bar, managed to keep track of plenty of guests.

Full English breakfast was indeed excellent, allthough a bit pricey.

Cheers

Initially we were put off by the distance of the nearest tube stop..Sloane Square, but the 15 minute walk was easy & rather lovely in the evening with all the bridges lit up. There is also a bus stop near the hotel. The room was wonderfully spacious for a London hotel, with a huge bed, tv, tea & coffee facilities and was very quiet. The bathroom was very nice with a great walk-in "rain" shower & a bath. I'm not really sure about the window between the bedroom & bathroom? Plus the blind was manipulated from the outside of the bathroom....Hey! Privacy? The hotel lobby & bar are very nice, with well priced drinks & bar food. There is free internet in this area...you have to pay in the room which is a negative. We didn't use the pool or spa but the pool looked nice, but not kid friendly. We didn't eat breakfast there, at £18 we thought it a little pricey. Battersea Park, opposite the hotel is lovely & well worth a stroll around to see the Peace Pagoda, and the Henry Moore & Barbara Hepworth sculptures.

TIP.....there is a lovely shop in the Chelsea Bridge Wharf complex next door, that sells fresh pastries, tea, coffee & anything else you should need. Breakfast was a delicious croissant & coffee sat in Battersea Park in the sun, watching the dog walkers & the river...what more do you need!

We booked our stay online and the process was simple. The hotel was furnished smartly, however the view's leave much more to be desired. We were hoping for something similar to the website, i.e Big Ben and the London eye, however we got a view of Battersea power station. When I requested this upon booking, they confirmed they would accommodate our request, however no such room was available upon arrival. The location is great and is incredibly close to bus stops and tube stations. The pool was small and the massages and room service are incredibly over priced. I've stayed in many 4 star hotels before, and although this hotel is overall very good, it definitely isn't 4 star.

Stayed here in August with my two kids - having to pay for internet was a bit of a hassle, but hotel, food and staff were all excellent. Swimming Pool isn't really for young kids as they don't match the relaxation ambience that the spa is looking for .... but you tell that to an 8yr old splash dynamo!

We stayed here overnight after attending a birthday party. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and had plenty of choice for everyone. I booked the hotel quite late and booked a room with a king bed but when I arrived it was twin beds. As it was late I did not mention it and I am sure if I had the staff would have tried to help. It was a shame that I was not advised that was not available. I would definitely return to this hotel and had a lovely stay! Thank you to all of the Pestana staff.
