My boyfriend booked a theatre break through London Theatre Breaks (who went into administration on Friday) for my birthday weekend.
We arrived early Saturday morning around 10.30 to be told by the receptionist that she had bad news and we had no room because they had a phone call to say company no longer existed. Although not the hotel's fault her attitude was that the only thing they could do was make us another booking which we would have to pay for. She wasn't overly sympathetic considering our predicament.
After about 4 hours of messing around trying to sort this out we decided to stay and pay for the room. We were offered a discounted rate but to be honest could of got the same rate on a hotel booking website. We told the lady on customer services (who was more helpful) at 2pm that we would stay. Considering check in is at 2pm we didn't get our room until 3.30pm.
The staff were generally very helpful although service in the bar was slow.
The room was great and breakfast was good selection. We aimed to be there before 9am as there was a big queue by the time we had finished.
Overall the hotel and location was great, just service slow at times and yesterday gave up waiting for a coffee in the bar area as no one came to serve us despite sitting waiting for about 15 mins.More
