“Top Notch for Lunch.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2014

We happened on this via another booking site, and will definitely be back. The decor is very olde worlde London, cosy and enticing on a cold day. The food was delicious, fresh and faultless and the wine spot on. Couldn't fault it really. It is much better inside than it appears from the outside, so don't be put off.

“A gem of a pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2014

Tucked off the main High Holborn drag, close to the delightful Lincoln's Inn Fields, is this fabulous pub. Charming landlord Ross and his brilliant staff serve up great beers & wines, superb bar snacks and quality main courses. But most surprising is the restaurant on the first floor - warm, cosy, unpretentious, authentic and homely. Plus of course excellent food, a decent wine list, smooth service and great value.

“Decent real ale and lovely food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

This is a 'proper' pub, just off Kingsway, WC2.
They do real ale which is well kept.
The bar menu is very reasonable. The best pork pie ever - served with homemade chutney (would love the recipe for the chutney. Companion had the fish finger sandwich, which was excellent. Only complaint is that he ordered it with chips - and we were not advised it comes with chips anyway, which was a bit cheeky of the bar staff. A great choice for a pub lunch, but suggest you arrive early for a seat as it is a popular place.

“Awesome Sunday Roast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2013

We went here last week after a long day of walking in London. My son had just finished his study abroad and never had a chance to try the Sunday Roast tradition. We knew the Ship Tavern was known for their Sunday Roast and it did not disappoint!! Place was loaded with locals. Great atmosphere and awesome food!! We all went with the beef roast, but a lot of other people were sharing the whole chicken which looked great also. We loved their house beer al well.
